Wow. I have apparently given out too much Karma, and are not allowed to give any more within 24 hours I must be feeling generous today

But how does it work. Is the total amount for a day fixed, or does it increase along with the total amount one got. Would I be able to give Karma to more people if I lower the amount of Karma I give to each person

I don't know, ask happy_terd he's the karma master ... or astra he's the highest karma holder.

Snakes are protected here. It's against the law to kill them. In urban areas people call the wildlife guys who come and catch them. I leave them alone as they are usually just passing by. None have set up camp yet. A lot of my neighbors get out the shovel when they see them. I don't.

Interesting, I didn't know that. Does that mean all snakes or just the rare ones.

All native snakes in NSW are protected under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974.
As with almost all native Australian animals you require a license to keep them as well.

It sounds like we are surrounded by deadly snakes, but where we live we have only seen one non-deadly in the cat's mouth and rescued it. They are out there, but don't commonly come in your house unless you are near lots of bush and have holes in your house.

You can do it! Or not, surely you have food to last a few more days hiding at the back of the pantry. Get inventive with meals and you may not have to go shopping for another week. (although I am getting low on laundry stuff )

all snakes dammit! Particularly sneaky ones.
Although in reality unless you are in an urban area, nobody is going to know or care if you kill one. We always remove and let go in the bush!

I believe it's illegal to kill any snake, which is not to say it doesn't happen. A lot of places/councils have a "snake-catcher" who will come and collect asnake and release it back in the bush somewhere. We had just such a thing with a largish (but mostly harmless) Carpet Python on our top balcony:

http://www.parknmeter.com/gallery/ma...?g2_itemId=237

Apparently there used to be a resident, big Brown Snake on our block, though we've never seen it (just the above, and a small, metre-long, baby Carpet around the spa). Neighbors have had the pythons, Tree Snakes, and Whip Snakes. If they're traveling around we'd probably just leave them be, but we'd call the snake-catcher if in the house or stuck on the balconies or taken up residence in a high-traffic or dog-friendly area of the yard. The National Park's at the top of the hill (100m) so it's an easy drop-off.

Cheers,
Marc

That's a beautiful and impressive snake.

I don't know for sure, but I bet snakes are protected here, too. That doesn't mean that people don't take the shovel to them when nobody is looking. I know lots of people who have an unreasonable fear of snakes, even the harmless ones.

My mother still tells the story of the time my older brother accidentally let a snake loose in our cabin at the lake and it hid in the woodpile near the fireplace. My grandparents were there, too, and apparently my grandmother was NOT happy. (It was just a kingsnake, but to her a snake was a snake.)

I can't imagine a single location in the US or species of snake that is protected. *shudder* I was bitten when I was little and am not a happy snake person

Mr M is almost back to normal. He is a little subdued, but eating and drinking and going out again. Hopefully not to finish unfinished business with D'artanian. The shaved patches over his wounds add a stylish touch. Maybe he is out showing them off.

He is still limping on the sore leg, but will now let us touch it and stretch it out. (not too much)

Thanks for your concern.

Just looked it up:

Snakes in Georgia

All non-venomous snakes are protected in Georgia. (Last paragraph on the fact sheet.) I guess the copperheads and rattlers are fair game, though.
