Frankenstein Opus
Hi,
I have an Opus with the broken display… Then, I have a new 6" display… Well… I ask myself: can I put the 6" in the Opus mainboard? The first answer was: no! the connectors are differents. 5" display has 33 pins, while 6" displays has 39, and the pin density is double than 5". But, I say myself, the pixels are the same, both 600x800! Well, take a look in the datasheet of both displays… Surprise! The 6 more contacts in the 6" are optional signals, and all the other are replicated in both displays! Uhmmmm… can I make an adapter between 6" and 5"? Stay tuned! eBook "Frankenstein" Luke |

I won't recommand for a simple reason, how will you fit the screen inside the device?
And you have a high risk to damage both your opus and the screen. (it's need high voltage to drive the screen, a shortcut and everything is dead...) |

![]() It's a success! But it doesn't works (yet), the display flashes on the border but it remains blank. I will study better the signals on the datasheets ![]() About the display fit, I wish to create a "full screen" device, with the pushbuttons on the back. Luke |

Your screen (or display controller) can be dead even if the border flash. They are really sensitive

I don't says that what you want to do is impossible, just that you have a high risk of breaking something. High voltage, even if they are short have enough power to damage both the screen gates and the screen controller if you make a shortcut by inadvertence. Can you post pictures of your work? (Oh by the way, be careful to not put a pearl screen on non pearl compatible device. although they are pin compatible, there are some incompatibility that could led to permanent damages on the screen if it's not driven correctly (and you will only gain a bit of contrast, but not the speed of V220)
And LG and PVI screen even if (like pearl) are compatible for the pin assigment, they have some electronic differences that can led to strangeness things if not correctly setted (like horizontal bars that come from nowhere etc..) |
