We have red-belly snakes here also, but they're an entirely different critter. On a hike once I was repeatedly bitten by one of the two red-belly water snakes we had found. Maybe that one doing the biting didn't like to have its picture taken, for I was posing with them as it was biting me. I just ignored the bites and continued to pose. I don't think that would be advisable with the red belly snakes in your neck of the woods. Black snakes are different here, also. They have a pretty nasty disposition and are quick to bite if molested in any way, but they're completely harmless; they only think they're bad. You, on the other hand, have the joys of living in the only country in the world where the poisonous species outnumber the harmless ones. The U.S. only has four poisonous species; none of which can hold a candle to the nastiest ones in Australia.

Started on the roundup after the first few visits over 15 years ago. No grass out the back any more mate. The neighbour next door found a brownie sleeping under his wood pile's barrel in his lounge room. I haven't told Tracey yet

I'm curious -- living as you guys do with so many venemous snakes around you, how do you deal with it when you find one near the house? Around here, most people kill copperheads/rattlers found near their homes, but leave them alone in more remote areas. Or at least I hope they leave them alone in remote areas. Unfortunately I've met a lot of people who think the only good snake is a dead one. (I've never had one in my own yard -- it's pretty urban right around me.)

I am not trying to be gross or anything BUT it is a fact that diarrhea will get you out of most work, responsibilities, and issues in life. This is how I survived my first year of marriage...stayed in the bathroom.
