I love that show and looked up all the rules. Thanks for the giggle.

The rules for the improved “Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock” version are:
  • Scissors cuts Paper
  • Paper covers Rock
  • Rock crushes Lizard
  • Lizard poisons Spock
  • Spock smashes Scissors
  • Scissors decapitates Lizard
  • Lizard eats Paper
  • Paper disproves Spock
  • Spock vaporizes Rock
  • Rock crushes Scissors

We now have three threads to go with this one. I thought we only wanted one thread.

At this point I am completely and totally lost.

I have no idea how anything is being done or who's in charge of decision making. I am quickly remembering why I am usually a loner and not a joiner.

Forgive me but I had to laugh at that. LOL I'm with you on the lost part but I still found it funny.

Well, I suggested we use a thread instead of the groups as the groups are a bit limited in what we can do. The idea was liked by some people here and so, I created a thread. Then I go and look and see that we have two more threads created when we only wanted the one thread. So as to why the other two threads were created, I have no idea.

It was also suggested earlier that maybe we should have two threads. One for discussing what we are reading, and one to post our progress.

I don't know where to post now.

There are 105 members of the challenge club. For a number that great, I think there needs to be a forum in which each member has two threads - one for listing his books, and one for discussion of his books.

That would be 210 threads in one forum. That's huge, but I don't think anyone could find his own list to add to if you did it another way.

I was going to post before I saw the other two threads. Now I'm also not sure where to post. The problem is that I don't want to start posting in on of the other threads and find out I'm using the wrong one.

How about we don't post in any of them and have a poll (time limited to 5 days) to see if we want the one thread or the two threads.

I see advantages and disadvantages to both. In the two threads, you can't really be doing the I've just finished reading such and such and am now reading this and that as you have to go to the other thread to post one of the other.

But with the single thread, you can post whatever it is you want be it reading or read or about what's read or being read. But then the single thread can get to be rather large.

However, I do have an idea that might work in terms of two threads. One thread like the one I started and a second thread for just the list of books read in 2011. So you go back to the list thread and edit your one post to add in what you've finished reading or ar in the process of reading.

Why not one thread per person? The first message is the list and the rest are the discussions.

But I do like your idea. It's less messy then what we have now.

Yes, this. This is basically the idea I voted in favor of initially. Jon, if you don't mind, could you create the poll? (I've never created a poll, so I don't want to do it and screw it up.) It seems so far, the ideas have been:

Stay in the group forum where we started
Use one sticky thread
Use two sticky threads
Have a challenge subforum where each person has one thread of their own

And anything else I missed that might have been suggested.
I don't think we can get any kind of consensus any other way.

I think two threads may work for general discussion and the other to list our books but instead of editing your original post you just copy and paste your books and add the new book to a new post, would that work better? because I always click go to new post and I would miss edited posts and if it does get too big we can always start a continuation thread.

just my 2 cents
