When I bought my K3 in August, I thought that $35 for the leather cover without reading light was pushing it a bit, and I had doubts about the hinge fasteners, but I went for it anyway. Four months into the experience, I'm glad I did. It's a handsome, well-made cover that still looks as good as new after daily handling. The hinges work well -- very secure. The cover will surely outlast the Kindle, but that's life in the information age, I'm afraid.

I bought a DSI hardshell case at my local discount store for $4.99. It is a good fit for my Jetbook lite.

I couldn't find a case for my Pandigital. (Even if I had, after seeing the prices for other cases, I probably would have passed, thinking that it was overpriced.) So .... I made my own. I only spent about $15-$20 U.S. for materials but, damn, the amount of time it took.

![]() Even if I doubled my money and sold it for $40 I would be working for $3-$4 per hour. I don't think good leather cases are overpriced anymore.

My wife bought me an Oberon cover for my 505 this past Christmas. I have used oberon covers for my journals for years and have absolutely loved how wonderful the leather cover is.

I bought the "standard" cover for the sony 950, considering the price of the 950 I didn't think the price ($34) for the cover was that bad.

I may recover it with real leather, it shouldn't be that hard and will add some additional protection to it. |

Yes, when I bought my first e-book cover for my Kindle 1 I thought they were way overpriced.

I am very accident prone and very hard on electronics. I was the only one at the University to kill 2 different TI-85 calculators in 5 years. (from overuse, not dropped or getting it wet or anything) I keep my iPods protected and I thought it would be a really good idea to get one for my Kindle 1. Fast forward about 3 years and the Kindle 1 is still in great shape and still going strong. The Kindle 2 with durable cover is also still going strong. So when it came to purchase a cover for the Nookie Color, I threw down the 35 bucks with no second thought. I would rather have the protection that I know the cover gives to the device rather than leave the device to the mercy of my 11 kitty cats... The better built covers are worth the money and protection they give the e-reader from accidental falls from a table or a shelf. It also protects them in my purse from things like my car keys banging around... |

When i first got my iphone i wanted good protection so i got a Piel Frama leather case, when i got my Kindle DX i went for the Piel Frama case again and even though there is a huge size difference between the iphone and the Kindle DX, the case for the DX was only 6.00 dearer than my iphone case which i found rather pleasing but strange.

I like the looks of the M-Edge Latitude and upon first glance, you'd think it'd be a lot cheaper than a leather Amazon cover. The fact that $35 is the going rate for a piece of nylon is a load of crap. There are thousands of products made from the same materials that have been a fraction of the cost for years. By the looks of it, the Oberon and Amazon covers are really the only ones that seem worth the price. I was so turned off by the $35 nylon M-Edge, that I'd probably just avoid the brand completely, no matter how much I might like the looks. |

I actually ordered a new one from buy.com for MUCH cheaper, since the one I got from Amazon (well it was an partner, not amazon themselves, came from Warehouse Deals, Inc) sent the wrong one. I did not know until after I opened it and then came back to the order itself thinking I had ordered the wrong one. Then I saw my original order email that stated "latest generation Kindle". |

It's a cover that for many people becomes part of the experience with their ereader, which is by and large a leisure device; its value is subjective imo. I wouldn't spend $100 on one, but if it adds to someones enjoyment, who am I to say they shouldn't.

I don't think the Amazon cover is the best one, but it most definitely is the best one for the price, at least materials wise. I'm impressed that Amazon did the total opposite of the "gouge customers with official accessories" approach that's so common. The market is swarming with equally priced covers that are like something you'd buy out of the back of a truck in Malaysia. |

I don't mean to slight anyone that has that particular case, it is attractive. My reaction is based solely on sticker shock. Last edited by silasgreenback; 01-04-2011 at 01:00 AM. Reason: Hit "post" rather than "preview". |

I have been using it for a while and am very happy even though it was quite expensive ($39.99). I think that it is worth the price as it looks good and protects the Kindle well. |

Overpriced for what you get, yes. IMO most of the ones I've seen are crap.

You get what you pay for, for the most part. A $4.99 case? Really? I'll bet that's a beaut.....NOT!!! WE |
