New Ereader

Hi,

Just got a Sony Pocket Edition ereader for Xmas, and have to say I'm enjoying the experience far more than I originally thought. I've downloaded Calibre software and have uploaded mostly newspapers and magazines so far, plus a few free ebooks I've found. I love Instapaper and have read many great articles I would have missed otherwise. I'm off to the library tonight to see if I can get an online account to start enjoying more free books. What else? Is there anything else I should be looking at adding? I'm new to the ereader world but I'm a quick learner.

Oh, and I'm a frustrated children's author. I have a nearly finished manuscript on my laptop, saved in Word. Will I be able to upload it to my Sony via Calibre?

Cheers all.

I use a Mac so I use Pages where I saw the option to export text as an ebook (epub), but I have not been able to find that option in Word. I think the best way to do it would be Save as .rtf and then convert it to .epub in calibre.

Welcome to the forums!
Check out the library here for many, many free ebooks you might enjoy. In the Sony Reader subforum there is a topic with links on where to find ebooks - I got over 200 from MR library or other websites!
