i ordered the white 3g version on the 30th-ish, along with the eco vue cover. they promise i'll receive my order, all in one shipment, the last week of this month. i think part of the reason, though, is that i chose free super saver shipping. what can i say. i'm a free shipping whore. the thought that white might be more readily available did factor into the very difficult color decision, but i am now committed to white and not even a little bit disturbed by the long lead-time. just happy i ordered when i did, or i might be waiting longer.

(i have a functional-but-aging kindle 2, so i'm hardly high & dry.)

e/t/a: my ship-date has been moved up. now i'm to receive both kindle and cover between the 12th & the 15th.

e/t/a: my ship-date was moved to today (1/5). estimated arrival date: the 10th. pretty random, but now that it's on the way i hope it will arrive before monday. cover not yet shipped; won't for another day or two.

The delay is just par for the course. I waited until after New Years (my birthday) thinking someone perhaps would buy me one. Since I never voiced my interest in one, what did I think I was expecting?

Heh... both WiFi and 3G versions available with immediate delivery here in the UK. They ran out of Kindles here for several weeks back around August/September - I guess after that they made sure they had plenty in stock to cover the Christmas/New Year period.

Rats - I just emailed them to ask about the delay hoping to get the $10 voucher like the earlier post. No such luck. They just said that they are out of stock and I'm in the queue. Still - it was worth a shot.

I had an issue with the housing next to the screen being raised a little and returned it to Target (no hassles, good experience). They, along with all other stores in the area, were out of stock, so I got a refund and ordered from Amazon.

When the order was placed, it was Saturday morning while it still said 3-5 days to ship. Not long after, it said 7-10. I'm hoping against hope that the 3-5 will still apply.

Waiting to open the Kindle the first time around was bad enough, this time around, I feel like I may need some sort of sedative.

I'm sorry that this is offtopic, but since you are from Belgium, could you direct me towards ebooks in the language of Molière? (not for me, I hate French, but for my familly)

@janeb, tried the same, no luck as well, although I have to admit, the CS rep I talked to was more than helpful! Props to Amazon for not being like others (Microsoft I'm looking at you.)

NMMI89: interesting to learn that a days' delay in ordering can mean a difference in ship-date of a full week!

but really. i'm cool. reading two novels on my kindle 2. they'll be *exactly the same books* on my kindle 3...
