Busy with A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge. I've been told that it's very good and a must read for any sci-fi fan. So far I must admit that the first 50 pages has me hooked.

I've just begun reading The Secret Report of Friar Otto by Sam Smith. The introduction is very intriguing.

I said I would read the first of the Women's Murder Club series, but I found out I hadn't put it on my reader so I started Robert Harris' Pompeii. I really like this book, I've had it for a while but I always thought I was never in the right mood for it, how wrong I was! Now I've started reading the first in the Amelia Peabody series, since I've read so many good comments on MR about them. |

More than halfway through Dragon Haven. Much better than the first book.

I think I'm on a history kick. I read "A Cadger's Curse" by Diane Gilbert Madsen (before Ghosts of New Orleans), which had Robbie Burns and Scottish history in it, and now I'm reading "The Ninth Daughter" by Barbara Hamilton, which has to do with pre-Revolutionary war history and Abigail Adams.

Urrg. Somebody just posted that their new vampire book is available. No, there is nothing new in vampires. How much more bloated can that sub genre become?

Just finished Jonathan Franzen's The Corrections and I have very mixed feelings about it. Overly long and rambling, plus the exposition of the background of the various characters was not well handled. But by the end I was glad I had stuck it out and finished the book. Will have to sleep on it and reconsider. |

I've started "Holiday Grind" by Cleo Coyle (first one in the series I've read in ebook, LOL). I wanted to read it before Christmas but didn't get the chance - finally downloaded it today.
