So, a movie can't be explicit if it doesn't show actual penetration? OK. My mistake. I didn't know that. I don't understand what my purpose would have been in lying. If it did have actual "explicit" sex, as you define it, I wouldn't have used the example, as I was looking for a mainstream movie with sex.
Yes, I brought it up because I was curious. I didn't deny asking you the question. I said that you should be able to show your kids all the non-explicit or explicit or whatever sex movies they can handle. I don't mind that people including mothers complain to Amazon about it. You can say that you'll only shop at stores that sell this or that. Amazon then has to make a decision. That's how freedom works. I found that explaining how sex works doesn't take too long. The rest is moralizing: "Be a gentleman, many boys are after this, you don't do this because..., etc..." My parents and their parents and my wife's parents and her parents had similar training and they were all very nice people. But, that's irrelevant. |

It's the same difference as "implicit" and "explicit" when we talk about what we write and say. "This and that "implies" that [whatever]". Or "he explicitly mentioned the status quo being unreasonably", to give a couple of examples. Quote:

They are referring to me. When talking about our censorship here. And flipping out because I said we didn't have slavery here, so telling me I had no right to judge anyone, because of the way we treated the indigenous population. He seems to have completely ignored the fact that I said in my post that we have behaved disgracefully towards indigenous people, but if he refered to that comment, then his argument would fail. He also seems to have ignored much of my post about rights but it certainly brought on a selective rant.
We don't have Internet censorship here. It was thought about and not proceeded with. So that argument too is a fail. What else, oh yeah, we can't carry concealed knives without a lawful reason. But there are lots of lawful reasons. And if you don't have a lawful reason to carry one, then why do you need one in your pocket anyway. Swiss army knives are fine to carry. I have one in my handbag. That would do most things a knife could do, and more. |

It does, after all, mention de-DRMing books. People will tell you what to search for on Google. They will tell you what blogs to read. But it is in fact against the rules of MR to say exactly how to go about it -- that is, to post explicit instructions on how to remove DRM. So, using the word as other people use it ... no, just a mention of something, whether it's the human body or DRM removal instructions, is not the same thing as explicitly showing that thing. When you use up a word like "explicit" to mean "implicit" then what word do you use when you really mean explicit? I've never seen Nine 1/2 Weeks, but it's only rated R, and I've seen movies that go beyond X into ... well, whatever's beyond X. So what would you call them? What would you call, say, Debbie Does Dallas? That's why we have dictionaries and formal definitions: it keeps us all on the same page, and pins down words so they don't squirm around when we try to use them. That way everyone knows what's being talked about, instead of someone saying "well, it was some other meaning you didn't know about." |

Because the nannies assume that because I could do something unlawful with that knife, I will do something. Even though I have decades of proof to the contrary. My "lawful reason to carry one" is that it's a handy tool that I use for many purposes. I wonder if they know how much damage someone can do with a screwdriver? Or a piece of string? Or their bare hands? |

9 1/2 weeks, from what I remember, have people tumbling about as they have sex. They cover the genitals. It was rated R. This is why I chose it as an example. I didn't intend to mislead anybody. There are two approaches, basically, to sex ed. The first one is explaining and then assuring that they have condoms to avoid disease and pregnancy or, if they engage in activities that don't have a need for condoms, well, then I don't know. The second is explaining and guiding them to view sex a certain way (moralizing). I like it when parents can choose which method to use. |

The best most comprehensive sex education in the world won't help a 12yo girl with low self-esteem or from a disadvantaged household.
It may help using some of the time demonstrating how to put on condoms in sex ed class and devote it to improving one self worth and other teenage psychology needs. |

I'm sure adolescents never thought about sex before there were movies to teach them about it.

In the situation for most people, they might carry a knife and be no worse off for it. Get yourself arrested for anything, then you would be searched and that is when the charges will occur. |

A BJ where you actually see the thing in the mouth going back and forth would be explicit, a girl on a girl, with her skirt lifted where you see her tongue doing the other girl (and you see the parts) would be explicit, even if they were otherwise dressed. Well, I think that is as explicit as I'm going to go in this general forum. But, anyway, use the dictionary. I have copy/pasted some for you, but you can use any other dictionary if you so wish. |
