I could not get ES manager or adb to remove the youtube app. Both resulted in failure or denied access. I was able to fix the problem by downloading the "titanium backup" app. Once downloaded, go to the "backup/restore" tap and find the youtube app. Click on it and click to "wipe". That will clear some data that is corrupted and make youtube work again, mine did! This useful information was unfortunetly not found until about 6 hours of research and trying various solutions that didnt' work.

I tried Titanium but youtube was not on the list. I also tried to install it with App Installer but got an error message saying installation of downloaded apps is not supported. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks.

Thank you for such a quick response. The outside app box is checked. I think setting up ADB is slightly out of my comfort range. I was thinking about unrooting it and then rerooting it. Would that at least bring the youtube back? I could then back the app up, delete it and reinstall from the backup. Thanks again. |

Rerooting will not help this problem. It's common that YouTube does not work after you root. That's why it either needs to be removed and then installed using the signed .apk file or you need to clear the cache/data. Try using NOOKcolor Tools which is one of your installed apps (All Settings /Manage Applications). Scroll down to YouTube and select it. Look for Cache and click on clear cache. Reboot. See if that works. |

That's the problem. Clearing the cache didn't work so I uninstalled youtube without backing it up and now I have no way of reinstalling it.

I'm having difficulty following you. If you're saying that you enabled install of non-market apps, the app should install. What error message are you getting when you try to install the signed .apk file?

Uncheck that box in NOOKcolor Tools and re-check it. Then reboot. We can use SQLite Editor to change the value of what's preventing this, but it's a paid app.
