Angry Blast!

I'm just pissed UPS used 'adverse weather conditions' as an excuse to not deliver my package when the 'conditions' cleared up and had no real impact on their ability to make the attempt. It sat not 40mins from me the night it was supposed to be sent to the 'final' facility it was supposed to go to before going out for delivery, instead of sending it off to that facility they say 'adverse weather conditions' let it sit for a day before sending it to that facility and still won't send it out for delivery the following day instead saying it will go out Monday. So they let it sit overnight at one facility then send it where it should have gone and let it sit there until Monday morning before they'll send it out for actual delivery which where I live the drivers don't show up until 6-7pm.

I can't/couldn't go get it myself because their policy is not to permit this until they make an attempt but they didn't want to make the attempt hence the 'delay code'. They could have even sent it out today but nope, they put it off 2 business days when all that was 'needed' was to put it on one of several trucks bringing freight to the local facility the night it arrived and it would have been ontime for Thursday. Now I won't have my package for my long weekend, which I almost never have, nearly 4 days delayed because they didn't want to bother doing what they were paid for.

It just really gets me when I know they are full of it.

I hate UPS. They ruined Christmas for my family one year in exactly the manner you describe.

Sorry for your problem. I never use UPS unless it is the only choice.

I didn't anticipate ever venting or ranting on this thread, but here goes.

I've never mentioned it on here before, but I've been the full-time caregiver for my grandmother for the past 8 years since my mother died (my grandmother was 82 when I started.) At first that consisted mostly of just being there in case something happened since she was still active and mobile around the house, but over that period I took on more and more of her old "jobs" as she became older, had two hip breaks (5 years apart), lost most vision in both eyes, until the last couple of months she lacked the strength to even sit on or stand from her bedside toilet on her own. On Christmas Eve her condition took a sudden negative turn, she was placed a hospice on Wednesday, and she died tonight (Friday) just after 11 PM (I was kind of rooting for her to reach 2011, even though I knew it wouldn't be long.) So I now face the perspective of finding a job in this economy after 8 years out of work.

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your grandmother, ardeegee.

I just hope if I ever find myself in her position, there is someone around like you to help.

Hang in there.

Since Christmas, there have been at least a few people on the forums complaining that they were gifted an eReader. Either it wasn't the right one or the case is wrong - a CASE!!! more extra money spent on them!

I have to be blunt here and say that all of the complaints I have heard so far from this ungrateful bunch can be attributed to user error. Just because they are too stupid to figure out how to use the thing or read the directions, they blame the reader.

Reading those posts makes me want to scream. Even the cheapest eReader is expensive. None of the people in question here have even made the slightest reference to the generosity of the giver. Not a shred of appreciation. WTH is wrong with these people???? Whiners. Complainers. Ingrates with a sense of entitlement.

Thankfully, these people are the minority. Most of the giftees that have shown up here are happy and appreciative.

End rant. Please carry on.

All I got for Christmas was the police academy movie.

I did buy myself a waffle maker and some Dr who dvds. I dont really know how those two things tie in together but I must have ate at least 10 waffles since I got it.

The police academy movie is pretty funny. It is the thought that counts.

So many old people live and die alone in today's society. I think your Grandmother was lucky to have you around to care and provide company for here. I hope you find a job you like.

ardeegee, I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother. She was very lucky to have you in her life and with her as a very caring caregiver over the years.

I do know how very difficult it is to find a job in the current economy and hope you are able to find a job soon.

OMG Ardeegee. I'm so sorry! You are an excellent person to have been the caregiver. I can only send you my best thoughts, wish you well and offer any help I can for you.

P.S. I was wondering where you were as I'd not seen any posts recently...

B Hell! I know this isn't much in the scheme of things but he (hubby) is taking down the Christmas decs already!

Such a party pooper grrr! He does this every year. Last night he was getting miserable again that it was all over for another year. It really gets on my wick. I love Christmas and New Year and like to keep it all alive as long as poss. He just wants to get it over with.

Just had an argument about it and I'm chilling in another room to let off steam. We'll be fine later but this is where we are so different.

I feel like a doormat; have a severe cold; quarrelled with everybody I could think of; I'll just lie low for a bit, I think.

Apart from that I'm a happy camper and I'll start the New Year all over again tomorrow; see you then!
