Taking a break from cooking: sauerkraut-stew, endive-stew, meatballs, gravy, smoked saugages done, and some quiches as entrée. Oliebollen prepared (kind of round donuts with raisins)+ applebeignets. I love cooking for a lot of people; so come all if you can; much to much food as always. We'll be eating stew and fruitsalad for weeks.

To do: make fruitsalad for dessert + mix mascarpone with amaretto to go on top. Clean up my kitchen, set out tablewear/glasses/wine/liquor/champagne/water. Everyone can help themselves.
Hope everyone who is ill, or has a partner who is, will be alright in the coming year.
Thinkxpad: I want that fluffy cat; mail her to me.

Bjones; I would like to eat in that restaurant as well.

I'm in charge of the drinks this year, so I'll be going out to buy some liquor shortly. On the menu: Sex on the beach, Amaretto Sunrise Crush, Baileys on the rocks and, of course, champagne ! It's a good thing I won't have to drive tonight

Sounds to me like you need some reasonable "rules" e.g. no reading when patrons are in the store, but otherwise....

The weather is miserable here and will likely slow down many new-years celebrations, but I plan to do my usual thing -- Chinese Takeout for dinner and early to bed.

Maybe some reading in there somewhere.

I'm about to frost my cake (it's not the fanciest cake, but it tastes good). I'm going over to a friends for a New Year's Eve get together, and I figured that EVERYONE likes chocolate cake.

I'm not using the frosting from the link, though, just the actual cake recipe. It's tasty (I've tried it before) and simple to make.

Just got back from my first running session since before Christmas. 10 km (<strike>9.2</strike> 6.2 miles) on a treadmill. I know some runners who hate the treadmill but I find it relaxing. Too cold for me to run outside these days.

I'm thinking I need to do exactly that. I have not replaced my exercise bike since it bit the dust 6 months ago (or so) -- have been walking, but don't like to fight the cold and wind...
