Metadata and series
It looks like when fetching a book's metadata, the series and series index are not being populated.
I can't remember if this has always been the standard behaviour. I don't think I have entered manually all the series and series index. |

Three nights ago series and series index were downloading during bulk metadata download fine, Last night it wasn't. I suspect librarything or wherever the series data is obtained.

![]() Because I have done so (times 2) ![]() BTW My index- series names don't always agree with the ones downloaded (when it happens) or imported. ![]() That said, the auto Series info is more useful than 'nothing'. I have been cataloging my DT Library with the 'Import (from clipboard) by ISBN" feature and was pleased that a majority of the Meta-data did fill.I use the Tag Browser-Rename to fix /standardize most variations, quickly |

Just to add that, in my case, the series fetched from metadata have been 99% right. Just to name a couple:
James Lee Burke - Dave Robicheaux series - perfectly matched. James Ellroy - L. A. Quartet and Underworld USA Trilogy - perfectly matched. |

Speaking of Series (Index).
![]() I saw an odd thing I added a book to a series. The previous Index was 8.5 (a short story between full books), the new index became 9.5. Should this be the next Integer (9.0) |

If you didn't update calibre to a new version then it's an issue with the metadata source and there isn't anything that can be done. Due to the number of people getting ebook reader for the holidays I'm going to assume it's due to sites like librarything being a bit overloaded.

You are probably right about the site being overloaded. God, I miss that feature. |

This page shows the right series and the right series number, but when I get the metadata for this book, both fields remain blank. I can see from librarything's REST example that they return the series name. Last edited by paulfiera; 01-01-2011 at 01:08 PM. |

LibraryThing is blocking calibre. However, it looks unintentional.
I've attached a screen shot of what the LibraryThing plugin is returning. I don't think the blocking is intentional because I can access the site in Chrome and I'm not even in the same state as the Sterling Heights High School. |

LT is doing some user agent sniffing, I have no idea what they hope to achieve with that. In any case, I updated the user agent calibre sends to a more modern browser and that seems to have fixed it, try 0.7.36
