You make it sound like a negative that the other apps install and work. IT's strength /benefit is to be able to very easily install the apps from the other major book sellers. |

from the very first announcement it was said that it would be an android tablet that would be very open so you could install other apps. its not luck it was by design. |

Android is for whatever the hardware manufacturer says its for. ![]() That's why the telcos love it; they can do whatever they want with it. The IQ is what it is. A generic android tablet. And this has been well documented since well before shipment. From day one it was clear it was intended for users who wanted to run third party apps. (That is why Dulins books is testing apps to post at the store's website.) And it's been clear since october/november it would ship with non-functional PB apps. (Check the threads around here.) Those of us that did our homework knew exactly what we were signing up for. And that is why the price hike is questionable: a generic 7in tablet at US$149 is competitive but at $180 it isn't. You don't reasonably expect luxury features from a Yaris but you do from a Mini. Conversely, you don't sell many of the former if you price it like the latter. As consumers its our job to know which is which before opening the wallet. And that is one of the reasons these forums exist, to help us learn what the products are like before buying. |

In Europe this has never been said, so we were not informed that "it would ship with non-functional PB apps". "Check the threads" in the german sub-forum, as you so nicely put it. PS: what has happened to this Forum, which used to be if not always nice at least civil ? and what has happened to you, fjtorres, who indeed used to be nice ? You are exactly right! The IQ does allow you to add apps for the various different reader stores like Kindle, Nook, and Kobo. No other Andriod Tablet that is sold and marketed in the U.S. allows you to do that. The Nook and Pandigital Novel are locked down so you can only use their software. That is why I ordered the IQ. Can't wait to get it next week.

It would also have been Pocketbook's (PB Germany, that is) responsibility to state this clear on their very own website, not on this quasi-official board, which, though being large, is not read or known by all PB customers. |

Why do all businesses insist on doing things half-assed, and use us as guinea pigs for their unfinished products?
It's crap like this, that makes me almost totally disinterested in getting anything from companies that do this. |

This just seems to be the last nail in the PB coffin. Given their epic fail with 602 and 902 not implementing most of the advertised features, moreover, simply becoming "dead" after a very short usage for many users ... too bad to see another potentially promising company go down the drain.
602 was clearly "dead on arrival" as it cannot compete with kindle on price and with sony on design quality, 902 had a marginal chance of making it, but not anymore ... |
