Maybe it's because I don't know where to "Requires USB Debugging enabled"?

Slowly I'm getting there (I think) but this is not as easy as rooting my phone was. Rather, rooting was easy, setting it up not so much.
Make sure the service is enabled in the settings for Button Savior. THen you should see a tiny square with an arrow either on the left or right side about two inches down from the top. Tap that to bring up the virtual buttons.

I started using it today. It stays discreetly on the side of the screen and works great.

I still use SoftKeys when I want to access my recent tasks/apps. I can't part with this feature. Maybe I can find an app that does just that.
I love it! A much better replacement to Softkeys. I didn't like having to switch in and out of Zeam/Softkeys everytime I needed the virtual buttons with Softkeys as the default launcher. Now, I can keep Zeam as the primary screen and just pop up the Button Savior when needed.

Awesome!

Since I have Home Switcher installed, I'm not sure I need both. Any reason to leave Softkeys installed?

Hey, does anyone know where I can find the .apk for the "Water" live wallpaper. It's the one that has the leaves floating in the water. It comes standard on many android devices, but it's not in the market, and I can't seem to find it through Google searches. There are other live wallpapers called "water," but they aren't the same.

Not sure if it's available separately but it was part of the autonooter image. Have you tried to google Live Wallpaper? There's tons of other ones out there.. some water themed ones that are better than the water one you're looking for IMO.

Once you make the association permanent, how then do you go back and change the program that opens the file? Using Astro, I selected a pdf file and clicked the bottom check-box in the pop up menu. Now pdf files always open with the selected viewer. However, I now want to change the viewer for pdf files. If I press and hold on a pdf file in Astro, a list will appear that says open as text, image, or video. The only pdf viewer that appears in any of those options is Quickoffice, and when I select it, the pdf file opens as bare code.

Open NookColor Tools -> All Settings -> Manage App

Then select the app that you want to reset ( the one that opens the pdf now). Then, select Clear defaults.

When you try to open a pdf again, it should ask you to choose the app for it.

Button Savior has been updated. Not sure which version everyone grabbed. Now you can move the location of the button (up/down).

Nice. I just downloaded Button Savior. Thanks all.

What are you using to uninstall Soft Keys? A task manager?

Yes, Astro File Manager is a popular one. There are many others.

I did see the little square, but tapping it never did anything - tapped with finger and capacitive stylus. Wasn't sure what the little square was but when I uninstalled Button Savior, it went away.

Decided to give it another try, so installed it again, and this time I can get it to open. Not sure what it was but I was having a hard time touching small things last night (made the Softkeys button from medium to small and couldn't get that to open either).

Thanks for your help and everyone else's comments. Now I can uninstall Softkeys like everyone else.

cool. It could be that you had the long press check box enabled before.

I've installed BS, er... Button Savior, guess we better spell that one out, and have noticed that position on the screen matters as to the icon responding. It could be related to the touchscreen problems we've been hearing about on the extreme right of the screen. Seems like middle right is the sweet spot for the icon.
