Resistance is futile
I kept dropping hints that I wanted an Archos 70 for Christmas, but to no avail.

I really would suggest waiting until March/April, for Android 3.0 and Tegra 2. A bunch of new tablets will come out then, with features way beyond what the Galaxy TAB offers. HP's WebOS could be great, too. It makes no sense to buy right before a major upgrade in both hardware and software -- unless you really want to read on it, only. You will probably be able to upgrade current hardware to 3.0 --- but will you be able to take advantage of all its features? Will it be slow? The near future should also bring significantly higher screen resolutions and better battery life.
At least wait for all the announcements next week. |

Yep I got to agree.
It's rumored that the next Samsung Tab will have Super AMOLED. That is the only rumored upgrade. They will be using a tegra, but not take advantage of the dual core Moto will be announcing their line at CES next week so you won't have to wait too long to see what they have in store this summer. As for the HP OS it's a sweet tablet, but they are targeting the business crowd so that will be quite price $800+. =X= |

Acer has also reported IIRC around April a couple of new Android tablets due out. I'm waiting til then to explore options.

And you can forget about SAMOLED dula core tab releasing before June as from what I have read the new SAMOLED plant from samsung is going start operations after April till then their will be a shortage of SAMOLED screen. Its the reason I think they are releasing Galaxy player and Nexus S in europe with LCD. |

A 7" SAMOLED screen would be extremely expensive, as well.
And as far as that WebOS based HP tablet is concerned, we only have rumours at the moment. It probably would make sense to use some of the same hardware as the business tablet, with minor changes to processor, GPU and battery |

The Galaxy Tab is calling to me, too. But, I do not want a monthly data plan since most of my usage would be on wifi. I'm waiting to see what's next.
