Fethry, the time is not the problem, I can set that in Kindle, but not the date.
And the point is, the older versions did it, just the newest (and maybe the one before, not sure) does it not anymore.

I can tell by opening a book in a collection and seeing this collection being on first position in the collection view.
I guess (havn't checked though) that an updated MBP file (annotations to a book) would get the date from the actual Kindle date.

And the old versions do work. In case you set it to an older date make sure you have WLAN/3G off to not get the actual date from there.

Reboot with dictionary look-up

I think I have come across a bug.

Whenever I open the dictionary in Duokan, it will reboot itself. This doesn't happen in MOBI books when I place the cursor in front of a word and the small dictionary pane pop-ups. It only happens (1) when I start typing a letter (dictionary itself in "Home" and in PDF view) and (2) when I click to see more of the definition in MOBI books.

Anyone comes across this and knows how to fix it?

Still, can I install Duokan without jailbreaking the Kindle DX graphite?
Just move files and install?

I've read through this topic and I have some questions regarding Duokan.
I have a K3 Wi-Fi.

Does the uninstall feature work without any problems?
Will the Kindle be like a "dual-boot" pc? I mean you turn it on and you have to press a button to go to Duokan. If you don't it, it just starts the normal Kindle menu or do you have also to press a button to do it?
Changing from Kindle to Duokan and vice versa happens only by restarting your Kindle?
I'm only interested in the .pdf reader, is it reason enough to install Duokan? In another topic people with similar .pdfs like me (journal articles with two columns) said it really helps.

Hi GlassX, I'll see if I can help.

1. I never uninstalled Duokan so can't answer that one.

2. Yes, it's like dual-boot. First time you have to press "Q" to get to Duokan or it will boot Kindle. Once in Duokan, there is an option to restart and boot back in Kindle.

3. Completely worth it just for PDF reading in my opinion. Same reason I installed Duokan in my K3-WIFI - to read journal articles.

PS. It's a bit buggy, but I'd recommend it anyway!

1. I copied DK_Documents, DK_System, DK_Documents in to Kindle root directory and also update_duokan_0b00a.bin I pressed “Update Your Kindle” than Kindle start updating his own stuff, after restarts I didnt see any boot screen.

I tried to dont press “Update Your Kindle” but instead press "Restart" than I start getting error saying that update was Unsuccessful pres "R" after i pressed red my kindle boot in to boot screen and I pressed "Q" and than I saw this screen :

http://i.imgur.com/xhhfw.jpg

screen start flickering, after few flickering kindle restart again in to the KINDLE OS..

Is anyone know how to fix it? or maybe can give a link to the older version of doukan

well, which Kindle 3 do you have. Look at the serial code:
Kindle 3 3G US: Serial no. prefix B006
Kindle 3 WiFi: Serial no. prefix B008
Kindle 3 3G UK: Serial no. prefix B00A
You can find them on menu->settings page.

I think if you have the wifi edition..you have serial with B008, so then you need to get duokan file: update_duokan_0b008.bin and not the update_duokan_0b00a.bin file unless you do have the UK version.

Thanks piceth. I installed it and I must say .pdfs look a lot better now.
I find the manual trim a bit sluggish. I use the Screen Zoom "C" option with a zoom of around 200% and then I scroll horizontally between the two columns. Any other ideas for how to read two-columned .pdfs?

What I find best is that what you do in each .pdf is saved and then when you open the pdf you dont have to do all the procedure again. I can't understand why people in Amazon don't care to improve these simple things.

Some more questions:
1. I can access my Kindle files, however they do not appear in collections and now I have many files without order.
2. The Duokan takes a bit of time to start. Is this normal?

Try restarting it a couple of times... When the boot-up menu appear, press Q..

This behaviour is not uncommon.

For the time being, we have some space and other errors in latin languages. The decoder is not fully mature yet.
