Sounds like my perfect evening! Have you ever watched all 3 back to back?

Before we had our daughter, I used to spend Christmas day watching something exceedingly long like all the Star Wars movies or Gone with the Wind or (ahem) The Thorn Birds - he he sad I know but always had a bit of a crush on Richard Chamberlain!

Hey, Kenny, have you downloaded SketchBook Mobile on your Droid X? I played with it a bit on my nephew's phone yesterday, and it's pretty cool. It uses layers, is pressure sensitive, all that stuff.

No, I don't think so. I tried one painting app, wasn't too impressed. Will check this one out. Thanks!

Lord of the Rings (movies and books I really don't- gasp!- like ) always reminds of having babies. I think it's because I watched the first one in the theater while extremely pregnant with my first baby (sitting in the theater for 10 million hours, watching something you really aren't liking, with a belly ready to pop and needing to pee every few seconds = not fun). I watched another of them on DVD ( can't even remember which one) in the hours after I had my third child at home. My husband LOVES the movies. We watched one the other day. Well, they watched, I read.

My husband has his own tradition of Christmas movies- Planet of the Apes. He insists we watch them every year. Growing up, I don't remember ever watching movies on Christmas.

Yesterday I saw part I and tomorrow we'll see part III. I'm a fan of Aragorn. I read the book long before the film and the two are not the same; though both good.
I'm looking to buy the Milleniumtriologie; saw all three parts in a kind of marathon, with food and all in some restaurant nearby; very good.
Mostly I go alone to our local art-cinema.

LOVE both Painter and ArtRage. I'm no artist, by anyone's stretch of imagination, but I love playing around with computer art programs. The little-known secret about ArtRage is that a lot of digital scrapbooking designers use it for their glitter fills. It also makes awesome sand. Here's a sample of an alphabet I was trying to do once: I used Photoshop for the glass letters, ArtRage for the sand fill, and some images from another designer:

I thought you'd like that. My nephew is a computer animator by trade, and he said this app is put out by the same people who put out one of the big software packages he uses -- he was impressed by that fact. (Can you tell I wasn't listening very closely since I can't tell you any names there? )

Autodesk...they do a lot of vector and 3-D art stuff I think. Here is a link to some images done with SketchBook Mobile:

Some are pretty impressive.

Well look at that! I played around with Painter for at least 10 years before I decided to get serious with it -- even so I have a looooooong way to go.

Wow, way too many posts to try and catch up with. I hope that means everyone had a great Christmas and enjoyed lots of goodies (food and gifts) and the company was enjoyable.

I am on burn-out after days of too many people and too much cooking and cleaning. Now, I'm working on getting the laundry done, the house recleaned (is that a word? ), and trying to resist taking a nap.

Getting the time to play is hard to find but I hope to get some time on sketchbook pro for the iPad over the holiday.

Just found out you can't load an attachment here from the iPad. I was going to pop in a little sketch I did when I first got it.

Kenny, those graphite images are really cool. Did you scan them or just take pictures of them?

I photograph my graphite work and do some minimal adjustment in photoshop as well as reducing size/resolution to post on the web. I try to adjust them to look as good as possible, but generally they are much better in person.

The digital work is just adjusted in format and size/resolution to post on the web.
