@kindlekitten: I didn't know and think it's idiotic, since when finding something time might be of the essence - the faster the owner is ID'd the bigger the chances to reach him still on site. e.g. when a phone is found by some staffmember let him open it and e.g call the 1st number labeled as family member asking the owners name... then asap forward the info so a public call on the airport/station/whatever kan be issued:" MR. suchandsuch your phone has been found aboard foobar pleas report at the service point for a return claim" if this happens fast the person in question might still be THERE.
what a MORONIC rule really |

I use a P-Touch label with my cell phone number and an offer of a reward on the back. Also, I don't take my reader anywhere unless I have something (big pocket, reader carrying bag, backpack, whatever) that it fits in, so I don't leave it somewhere. I'm paranoid and poor.

I'm sure TSA has already detonated the suspicious object with internal wires and a battery left concealed aboard an airliner. The FBI will be kicking in your door in 3, 2, 1....

Well, My K3 has a "Personal Info" section on page 3 of the Settings section which can filled out with pertinent information. I also also stick on the back of my Kindle, one of the thousands of free return address labels that get sent to me.

It's not only info so they can find you, but also how you can find it. I mean, let's say it's with Lost and Found. I presume you'll have to at least describe your device before you can get it back...

I have my personal info filled out i n the Preferences section, but I guess I'll have to put an address label on the back of my Kindle cover, too. I don't travel on planes much, but there's always the possibility that I will sometime.

My Kindle has a lock down where you need a password to use it... granted if they have a Kindle USB then they can look at the files on it but otherwise it is useless without my password, which is NOT easy to guess or hack.

I had my Kindle password-protected at first, but I decided that for me, it was more trouble than it was worth. I prefer being able to just unlock and read, and my Kindle's never far from my sight, anyway.
