Do you care that your rooted NOOKcolor voids the B&N warranty?

It appears some non-rooters wish to raise red flags about rooting your device. I guess they assume you aren't intelligent enough to do your research, read the disclaimers on the NOOK Devs website, assess your personal finances (should you need to buy another NOOKcolor), and make an informed personal choice. To those who rooted their NOOKcolor share your thoughts on this. We're not debating whether we can and should do a factory reset prior to requesting warranty service from B&N. Did you overlook these red flags on the NOOK Devs website?: Quote:

Not rooted.........yet.....I'm certainly concerned about the warranty issue..... But from what I've read, it seems easy to do a factory reset...which makes it a moot point doesn't it...... |

I haven't rooted, but that would not deter me if I decided to. As far as the rooting police goes, they should worry about their own NC and not yours! Like the old Hank williams song says, "Mind your own busines and you want be mindin' mine"! |

I read the warnings, reread the warnings, researched the h*** out of it and rooted. The advantages (to me) well outweighed the risk involved.

The thread that began it all: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=112846 The money quote (no one has confirmed or denied it though): "You can certainly revert to stock, but people are saying that not everything is reversed, and that B&N service personnel will be able to tell." |

Not rooted but the warranty is not a factor in that decision. It's not an issue to me.

I don't have a NOOKcolor but I've been following the discussions about rooting. For me, the option to be able to root the NC actually makes the device more appealing to me and makes it a better value. So much so that I'm taking a second look at the device. If I had the money for it right now, I'd probably buy one and root it the first chance I get. If there were no option to root, then I definitely would not buy it. . |
