Maybe we are both wrong. We can hope, right?

It's different, and some people hate it, but have you read the Thomas Covenant Chronicles?

You might try Zelazny's Jack of Shadows or Bring Me the Head of Prince Charming which he wrote with Robert Sheckley.
I have no idea if they are available as ebooks. I would look but I have to make it to the 11:30 showing of True Grit.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll be hitting my local library tomorrow morning. I've heard a lot about the Thomas Covenant Chronicles, maybe it's time I give them a try.

For a change I have my next reads lined up. Just finished "Candy Apple Dead" first in the Candy Shop mysteries by Sammi Carter. Next up, "Killer Crop" by Sheila Connolly, fourth in the Orchard series (LOVE this series, by the way). That should get me to Friday, when not only did I score Christmas Eve off, but I don't think we're going anywhere, so I plan to read "Call me Mrs. Miracle" by Debbie Macomber. She's just about the only romance author I ever read. I've read the first one (which is, I think , the one the Hallmark series is based on).

Are those all cozy-type mysteries? You are certainly master of all that is cozy I love those types of books- quick fun reads with recurring characters. I'll have to check some of these out.

I just (tonight) started Holiday in Death by J.D. Robb.

Quote:
No one likes to be alone during the holidays. For New York's most posh dating service, Personally Yours, it is the season to bring lonely hearts together. But Lieutenant Eve Dallas, on the trail of a ritualistic serial killer, has made a disturbing discovery: all of the victims have been traced to Personally Yours. As the murders continue, Eve enters into an elite world of people searching for their one true love—and a killer searching for his next victim. A world where the power of love leads men and women into the ultimate act of betrayal...

I have the first few In Death books, but have not had a chance to read them yet. They sound interesting.

Yep, both Sheila Connolly and Sammi Carter are cozies. Buried somewhere in here (posted by poohbear) is an older version of my Cozy catalog from calibre. That should give you all the authors you'd ever want in that genre!!

I thought I'd like them better than I actually do. I mean, come on... murder mystery and bookstore... you'd think it'd be a match made in heaven, but not so much. I think it's because Tricia's sister ticks me off so badly.

Lorna Barrett, though, is a really nice lady. I've done some formatting work for her.

The first few (6 to maybe a couple more) where the main protag's background is revealed are the best (doled out slowly across probably the first 3 books or so.)

It's a good series.

I'm rereading The Age of the Five Trilogy by Trudi Canavan. This really is one of my favourite fantasy series ! I'm about half way through book 2. And there's going to be plenty of reading time in the days to come because my christmas holiday starts ... Right now !!
