He,he , Pchrist7, how's you're new Kindle doing?

To stay on topic: I don't understand that the OP had an argument with Amazon's customerservice. They are always friendly and never contradict one, as far as my experience goes------nothing but good and friendly service.

The fact the credit card the OP used to purchase the Kindle is now "canceled" (combined with a "misunderstanding" with one of the most understanding Customer Service's around) leads me to believe that a Free Kindle was the plan all along.

Yes, agreed. I mean, I phoned them from overseas and as English is not my native language it can be hard on those guys (and me). But they had a lot of patience and I was really impressed by it.

It is rather nice, isn't it?
I got it from someone on the forum; I'll PM you wether that person is willing to share his knowledge about that light.

Thanks. I think I will have to get a better photo of my cat. She looks a bit grubby compared to yours

Stripping DRM is not stealing so long as you purchased the books you're removing the DRM from. In several countries it's a legal right to remove artificial limitations placed on content you legitimately own.

I was under the impression that it was illegal. At least in the U.S. Not that I'm opposed to it.

I don't doubt for a second that it's illegal in the US. However over 95% of the worlds population don't live in North America

Legal or illegal, like you I'm not opposed to it at all.

Yes, but that 5% includes about 80% of ebook customers.

And just for the sake of trivia, I think it's around 92.33% of the population that doesn't live in North America.

I think just about anything you choose to do with a book is fine (from an ethical standpoint), so long as the book was paid for, so you certainly won't get a debate from me there.

Thanks, HarryT. It is Christmas eve, and I have a new kindle under the tree for my husband (which I ordered late on the 21st), and this was actually making me nauseous. Stealing in the name of Christmas?

I googled it, ha; I was curious. Also I have no life. Most of the sources I found had the number ranging from 75-85%, but they also said that figure is expected to change quickly.

I doubt the Kindle in question ever existed.

This is probably the only subject on MobileRead guaranteed to cause more arguments and chaos than piracy.

On Christmas eve, I mugged a jolly little elf-like man as he was walking out of my local Amazon store. He had a sack full of ebooks. Is it o.k. if I resell these ebooks without giving the money back to the authors and publishers?
