Yeah, the new formats seem just fine. I have a document called "owner information.rtf" that I open often enough to keep it on the first page of "I'm Reading" in case I misplace my Kobo. I believe that experimental also means unsupported.

1) When I had a Kobo, it was ok. Nothing fancy, but ok. I think it's a good ereader for those new to the whole idea, kids, or those on a budget.

2) Hardware is competent, customer service is terrible. There have been several stories from people about this, so I know it's just not me. I believe a Kobo CS person even admitted that they are having bad issues right on this forum.

3) Throwing about the word "troll" because you don't like a topic or people disagreeing with you is childish, insecure and just plain silly.

That's all.

It's a shame because like I said, hardware is fine- but if you have any kind of tech issue, you're up &$?$'s creek. It's pretty bad. I think one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had.

Not rude, but they don't get back to you in a timely fashion and you will hear different stories from different people. There are some good ones( someone who posts here was helpful, which was appreciated) but things are so screwed up there right now.

Posting in all caps is considered very rude and it doesn't lend you any credibility.

Did you read my post? I didn't say it was just for kids. I do think that it would be an ideal one for a child though, because it's very simple in design, and you can get library books on it.

May I suggest you switch to decaf? Sheesh.

I've asked Kobo about hyperlinks, and to the best of my understanding, they did not feel that hyperlinks were high on the "must have" list for folks. I think they are wrong, but what do I know. My suggestion was a menu choice to enable hyperlinks (or not) with that decision forcing the need to use the menu to change font size. I do not know if that part is doable. I also suggested that they change the CSS so that hyperlinks are underlined.
Hi, have you put in an "official" feature request, I promise you they all get read and there is definately power in numbers! email help@kobobooks.com and request the developers really listen and if it's feasible they try their best to integrate what you (the customer) wants!

Cheers,
Kerry

In some ways I would rather keep complaining about the Borders software until it gets fixed.
Actually you can buy your books from anywhere that will sell them to you.
I have not purchased a book from Borders since July - the last time I paid full price. I find that Kobobooks.com is MUCH cheaper than Borders even before I use the 20% to 30% discount codes that they send me almost every week - that may vary depending on the specific books you choose however.
I have tried various other websites but there are too many geographical restrictions. Kobobooks.com only shows me the books available in Australia with prices in AUD$ which I find much easier than getting all excited about a book (I know I really need to get out more!) and then discovering after I try to buy it that I can't - with Kobobooks if you can see it you can buy it.
I have 9 books purchased from Borders which I loaded using ADE. I have now about 50 books from Kobobooks also loaded through ADE. Others prefer Calibre but as I get a lot of library books I need ADE to access them so that's what I use.
As I said I don't use either desktop app - I think they are both a bit dodgy. Infact I have only just redownloaded the Kobo app as I was thinking about doing the upgrade. I've decided to wait a bit as I've been having some issues with my computer so I removed it again.

Actually, if it's done right, going to an endnote is pretty quick. The question remains that if the eBook doesn't have a go back link, does the reading software have a history back? Again, a very useful features that too many readers don't have.

Agreed on this one. As we've seen in subscriptions, the kobo can actually do hyperlinks pretty well. I'd love to see them implemented in books for endnotes, etc. I certainly wouldn't mind giving up the up/down font sizing buttons for them.

I'm very happy with my Kobo. It does exactly what I want it to do, and the price is right. I haven't had any issues with it yet.

I would like to mention something that voracious71 said...it really is a perfect ereader for kids. I tested it out with my 5th grader and she found it very easy to use without me having to explain much to her. She's almost finished with one of the classics that came free on the Kobo. I love it...she loves it...happy holidays to us!

The only person I'd call a troll around here is that kobono guy. He seems to have some serious axe to grind and I really don't get it.

Personally, I love my Kobo. The right click on the dpad has actually become discoloured from thousands of clicks.

I agree, a child would have no problem using the Kobo. But then, children are better with technology than most adults so...

Ugh.. I like my Kobo as well. Seems that whenever someone says anything negative about it, thought, you and numerous others have an axe to grind. My points are only these:

1. Kobo did not deliver on some features that they said were 'coming soon'. Their customer service folks and the reps that post on these very forums have continuously said it is coming next week, next month, etc. Yet here we are in Decemember and the features have arrived that were promised last summer.

2. Kobo has poor customer service. It takes them weeks to respond to the majority of issues via e-mail.

3. Kobo has buggy software. After almost every desktop application and firmware release there have been issues by users.

These were and are my points. If you are blind to see them, wish to ignore them, or do not expect the return in your investment, then by all means, be blind. Just don't jump on users that point them out and expect higher performance from a company that they supported from the start. I am an original Kobo user, have regulary purchased books from them, however there is a point when one has to consider stopping support for a company that is continously tripping over themselves trying to keep their promises and support its own product.
