I just installed the screensaver files, it worked like a charm and the gruesome authors are GONE!
What a relief. Thanks. Tim |

Or does anyone have the old version still available? If I read it right the only problem can happen when you manually change the value, but I am fine with 60 minutes, does someone still have this version and can provide it? |

So if they do a firmware update on the Kindle in the future do you have to uninstall these hacks first, and/or will they still work on the new firmware? I'm getting my Kindle 3 in 2 weeks and am very interested in the screen saver hack, don't really care about the fonts one. I actually don't really know if they update the Kindle firmware very often or not.

So far the hacks persist and they do not interfere with amazon firmware updates.

I've only done the screensaver hacks. I've used my own photos converted to b/w. They need a decent amount of contrast in order to show up well on the gray scale screen.
Suggestions are to place a text box with owner/reward info and possibly the line at the bottom about sliding the power switch. |

I've gone for a while and I apologize for the delay, however it has been quite the journey with Amazon.
I'll spare the details, but suffice it to say that anyone suffering from frozen devices when put in sleep mode or similar ailments, it appears the problem may be the standard leather Amazon cover. Something about the way the cover hooks into the device is responsible for the issues. I learned this after spending a couple weeks in contact with the Kindle leadership and technical teams. Hope this helps for those who have been as frustrated by this issue as I have. |

Old Ver 0.2N Screensaver Timeout
Here is the old version. Just be careful if you modify the timeout value or just leave it at the default it installs with.

Pilot, I think this is the very old version, not sure if it really was meant for K3.
The first page of this thread mentions SSTimeOut v0.03.N |

Yes, I noticed that the first page says .03 but I don't think that version was ever posted. This is the version I have on my k3. IIRC this was the first version to work on the k3.

Hi,
i just installed the fonts hack, everything worked fine. But i have one question: is there a way to quickly change the font used in the reader? Ex. i have many fonts in linkfonts\fonts folder (Caecilia, Helvetica, etc.) and i want switching between this fonts. But... the reader is only using the Serif_*.ttf (?) - so if i want to use for ex. the Georgia font, i have to rename the Georgia_*.ttf to Serif_*.ttf? Or is a simpler way to switching between the reader's font? Thanks. |
