With all this "maleness" floating around over seeing a naked blue kindlekitten - it reminds me of my 3 year old daughter playing a few days back ..

after getting cross with a toy and I asked why she was getting irritated with it, she replied "It's just my hormones, Mummy" !

Hormones sure have a lot to answer for

That is great! If she'd been around me lately, I'd blame myself for her having overheard that from somebody.

Was wondering when someone was going to mention this. There's also an album of ABBA covers by metal bands:

Don't take it seriously, and you'll probably love it. On a radio interview supporting its release Boone recalled a conversation he had with the late Ronnie James Dio (RIP). Boone told Dio how highly he thought of his songwriting, and Dio said that was telling because he'd actually written "Holy Diver" about Christ. Boone covered the song on the album and Dio made a guest appearance. Ritchie Blackmore did likewise on "Smoke On The Water".

If you think of it as absurdist humor it's pretty good. I always thought "Enter Sandman" was cheesy no matter who did it (including Metallica--the original artists, for those who don't know) so it's not like Boone could make it any worse. The others...well, I was always a Monty Python fan so this is right up there.

Oh dear. Now you all (plus some youtube wandering about) have me wondering about learning the Uilleann pipes. Although other internet wandering says they are difficult. Hmmm....

I presume you are familiar with Beatallica? (Lennon and McCartney songs as Metallica would do them. Dead on imitation of Metallica, and hilarious covers.)

If memory doesn't fail me, the Boone album wasn't bad if you ignored who was doing it. If it hadn't been Pat Boone, there wouldn't have been nearly the reaction.

The difference between the Uilleann pipes and the standard warpipes is size and inflation method.

Warpipes require the player to blow into them to keep the bag inflated. Uilleann pipes use a bellows strapped around the waist and right arm.

I doubt there's a lot of difference in learning to play one vs the other.

Is it fingered similarly? I used to play bassoon in school, but that was a score and a half years ago.

It's the no-blowing that I like, as I've developed mild asthma since then. The bellows method of providing air sounds good!
