I'm a metalhead and never got excited about Sabbath beyond appreciating them for their contributions as co-founders of the genre. Used to headbang to "Iron Man" and "Paranoid" back when those songs (and I) were still fairly new.

These days few of us can even agree on what metal "is" anymore; respect the elders or go straight for the Cookie-Monster vocals? Death and mayhem, dungeons and dragons, or beer and bongs?

It's all about whatever a record label calls it anymore; yesterday's heavy metal is today's hard rock, and yesterday's hard rock is today's classic rock.

If Sabbath are "co-founders", who do you think the other was?

Given that the genre has has spawned sub-genres - speed metal, thrash metal, death metal - no big surprise.

I gave up when I heard a Pink Floyd track as elevator music. Not something from multi-platinum Dark Side of the Moon, either - it was a track from Ummagumma, which was the all time "Put on the Pink Floyd, I'm peaking!" acid head's delight.

Had to go look them up, and listening now... not bad, not bad at all! Chris just remarked, "I could SO go through town jamming out to this in the truck!" So I think you've just created two new fans.
I first encountered them a few years back. There was a "Tartan Festival" in NYC, promoting things Scottish, and the organizers had brought over the Fairies and violin centric band Shooglenifty. They performed in the Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Station in NYC, and also did some club dates. I caught one of the latter in a bar, which was a very packed house. I particularly remember a solo by the Fairies' drummer. It had been years since I heard a drum solo that wasn't just a collection of riffs showing how all over the kit the drummer could be. This guy actually did a solo with structure, that started here and took a logical path to there, building on what had happened before. I was impressed. But then, I was impressed by the Fairies in general.

I want to bash my husband over the head and take away his computer and phone! He has been chatting with old high school friends online, and I just found out the other day that one person in particular has gotten texts that I thought he would only say to me. He called it 'light flirting', but I countered that he lied about it, so he knew it was wrong.

Don't get me wrong, he is very sorry for what he did, and for breaking my trust. He apologized for hurting me and said that things just got out of hand quickly. He has since broken off contact and has been subdued for the last few days, very ashamed. He would never physically cheat on me, but started this out thinking to keep things light (which I wouldn't have had a problem with).

Me? I want to call the slut up and threaten her, since she sent nude photos of herself. She lives up north somewhere, and I don't really care where, as long as she stays where she is.

I really trust my husband, but this just made me mad and hurt. I'll give it a few more days before I decide to get over it and let him finally succeed in making it up to me.

Christmas presents should be good, though.

I have to edit what I said before about not being able to dance to the bagpipe music. What I should have said was that "I" can't dance to it. Everybody else seems to do just fine.

I tried listening to some of the Peatbog Fairies YouTube videos and I think I prefer a more traditional sound. Seemed to me that a lot of their pieces sounded like 'bagpipe heavy metal.'
I'm probably just getting old...

Ah, okay, because when I first listened to it, I started doing the rolling-down-the-main-drag head-bop, and I could definitely see them making a career out of bagpipe techno. Vanessa Mae did it with the violin, after all.

I also heard where the bagpipe part bore more than a passing resemblance to an electric guitar. Definitely not traditional but hey, if it gets more people interested it can't be a bad thing.

My philosophy is that 'music is music.' My parents hated the Beatles but loved Pat Boone. My grandparents hated Pat Boone but loved Rudy Vallee. My son thinks Lady Gaga is great, and wonders why I like the Beatles, Animals, Herman's Hermits, etc. (We both like Tim Buckley ...) There is absolutely no accounting for musical preferences, and as you say, the more people out there singing and stomping their feet, the better this world will be!

Sorry to hear the (not cited) story.

What I don't get is the "I decide" part. I mean - you either forgive someone, or you don't. Or you need "some time" to forgive. But you don't "decide to get over it" on December 24th, so he get's the message. He got it in with the first shouts (if there were any).
If I were him and I read the post here I would get really mad, because of the phrasing. For me it implies that you have actually gotten over it, but now you just keep on rubbing it in, so the message gets clearer. Which sounds just mean.

I do hope I'm misinterpreting the phrasing.

I think you could read that as "... before I decide to tell him I've gotten over it...". Or think of it as her husband is in time out.

When I was a child my parents were wonderful about giving me lessons in anything I wanted to learn (and some that I didn't.) Riding, drums, skiing, fencing, shooting, archery, leather crafting, swimming, golf, guitar, ballroom dancing, etc., etc, as well as extra tutors for school subjects. But there was one, and only one lesson that they absolutely refused me; bagpipes.

When I finally moved out of the house, one of the first things I did was buy a bagpipe practice chanter. I won't pretend that I really 'learned' to play, but I did have a great time playing with it and could hammer out a few simple tunes. I was advised by friends to stick to the guitar.

Actually, it was a case of I allowed myself to get furious, yelled at him, then felt better. We had it out last night after I posted, and I feel much better.

The 'I decide' part was I knew I would get over being hurt and mad, but I was dwelling on it too much to allow myself to feel better. I HADN'T forgiven him at that point, so I wasn't just rubbing it in. As I told him, even if I trust him to not take things further, it takes a little time to rebuild the trust he broke.

Anyone heard the country song that says "I just want to be mad for a while"? That's how I felt, but realized it was hurting me more than him. So I yelled, he argued back, I argued some more, then we both felt better (at least I did, I think he did, too).

I don't care if he talks to her now, as long as he doesn't erase evidence and will show me what was said if I ask.
