You could try to interest her in some nice Scottish Bag Pipe music. Or perhaps a good Bavarian tuba music band.

Let me guess. 'Black Sabbath?' They have been called the greatest Heavy Metal band of all time.

He just made the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame this year. Not that anyone outside of Rolling Stone magazine cares about that any more since they ignore the "rock 'n' roll" part of it.

Am I the only person left in the world who doesn't find bagpipes intolerable? I mean, it's like country music wherein I'd rather not listen to it for hours on end, but it hardly gives me the fingernails-on-a-chalkboard sensation others seem to get.

That could be (and has been) debated for hours at a time. Sometimes, even by people who were sober.

She also likes Meat Loaf, who I also like, and Queen. Other than that she downloads some songs here and there but hasn't got a clearly defined taste.

No, the mere suggestion! He's more into The Beatles, but only the slower songs. His favorite song is Yellow Submarine... He thinks Helter Skelter is too agressive.

He also likes Abba and doesn't understand why my sister and I laugh at their costumes. He also likes more modern bands like K3, which is a girl band geared towards young kids. And their fathers . He thinks Meat Loaf and Queen are heavy metal, and let's not mention the stuff I listen to!

I just bought Neil Diamond's Hot August Night. I have a complete, core-warming love for it that I could explain in many words or just put down to one: childhood. So many early memories associated with this music and others similar... long road trips, Avalon, moving, inconstancy, geography...

I think I'll hit some Prologue/Crunchy Granola Suite...

I love it! Especially when played by the 1st Brigade, Queen's Cameron Highlander band. I put it on when I need to clean my house. I move around to the beat and the place gets cleaned up in record time! But it really sucks for dancing...

Heavy metal is the ONLY music genre in history that I can't stand. I'd sooner listen to Tiny Tim singing 'Tiptoe through the Tulips!

The recollections of others and a long-bow view of my posting history would soon reveal to you that your high hopes have always been frightfully misplaced.

I love bagpipes, with a weakness for the Uilleann variety. The trick is mixing them with anything else.

If you get a chance, listen to the Peatbog Fairies for pipe-centric Celtic stuff. Amazing band.

I always liked 'The Wind that shakes the Barley.' I don't think it's possible to listen to the pipes and not tap something, either a toe or a hand. There are some great Youtube videos with the Celtic pipes!

Had to go look them up, and listening now... not bad, not bad at all! Chris just remarked, "I could SO go through town jamming out to this in the truck!" So I think you've just created two new fans.
