Can someone clear up a few things for me. So those that have rooted, why can't you just put the latest Android OS on it? Or can you? Because those that are not rooting are waiting for the 2.2 update. I would have thought a rooted system could be updated to whatever version is the latest without having to wait for B&N to push it out.

Gabryael, are you able to move files from the PC to the NC, or can you only pull files from the NC to the PC?

- Android 2.2 ability to recognize the hardware in the NC properly - Licensing issues I'm just waiting to see how this pans out when B&N releases their own 2.2 update. The more I read about the about, the more leary I am of when and what's coming. |

Okay, grabbed the Pro version of Wifi File Explorer, cost a little over a dollar. Definitely better than having to plug in the cord!

Just uploaded an encoded movie file to the NC using the WiFi File Explorer. Exactly 1 gigabyte in about 8 mins - that's faster than I had anticipated.
A couple tips: After firing the software up, it mentions that you should use the "home" button to continue working with it running in the background, as the "back" button actually turns the connection off. If you want to move multiple files, you need to zip on the sending end, and then unzip on the receiving end (and then delete the zip files on both ends), a bit clunky, but after you figure it out, it works fairly well. |

Google Earth
If you've been unsuccessful installing Google Earth from the Market try this .apk in my public DropBox.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5210431/google_earth.apk Install it using your file explorer. Then immediately reboot. Otherwise you'll get the message about not enough storage space. |

Google Talk
Anyone successful in getting Google Talk to work? I thought it would be working as part of the Android Market enabling process.

After reading about WiFi File Explorer - I would mention one of the most used apps on my Android devices (NC and Droid Incredible): The Dropbox app
set up a dropbox account (free at dropbox.com) and then install the app on your NookColor and your desktop computer. Drop files into your dropbox folder on your computer (apps, ebooks, mp3's, videos); and they automatically get synced your dropbox account on the dropbox server. When you run dropbox on your NC, all of your files are available (to download). I actually set my calibre library up inside my dropbox folder on my desktop, so now my calibre library is available on my NC. The android app also allows you to share files from your dropbox (email a link for someone to download directly from the dropbox); upload to the dropbox from the app; stream m3ps or videos etc. As you can probably tell from my glowing review of dropbox, I really like it! Note: shameless plug: if you aren't a user of dropbox - if you use this link to sign up, I get a little extra free space (hope that's ok to post here): https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NT...A5?src=global0 |
