Ordered my nook (Canadian questions)

I'm sorry if these have been asked before but when I pulled up a search I seemed to get random, irrelevant topics ?!?!

Anyhow, I'm a Canadian who couldn't justify the 149.00 for the Kobo when the nook wifi was the same price, so i took the plunge knowing I might have a few kinks to work out as far as purchasing books from B&N

It's my understanding that with a US shipping address I can order eBooks to my nook despite having a Canadian credit card. My question is do I have to *say* my BILLING address is also a US address in order to do so? And can I download it right to my device this way or do I have to dl it to my computer first?

Also I was reading a few posts about trouble registering your nook FROM Canada... not sure if anyone has any tips of info as those posts were from much earlier in the year. Perhaps something has changed?

I have registered 2 Nooks here in Canada and there were no problems. I think the problem the poster in the thread SCION posted was a fluke. I am not sure about other registration problems. I registered one in August and another in October of this year (mine was registered while in the US).

And yes, you are correct with the billing. You just have to check the box saying your billing address is the same as your shipping address. Then you can order books via the Shopping button on your Nook.

Did B&N let you order the Nook? I have always picked mine and my friends up while in the US, but I have another friend that wants one. I was wondering if they started letting you buy from Canada? Or did you go through a forwarding company?

I actually have a family friend who has a condo in Florida, they travel there about once/month and she kindly agreed to bring over a nook I ordered to her place

One suggestion I got was to buy a BN gift card on your account. Charges default to this first so you don't get a bunch of small $US funds charges on your cr.card.

When I emailed BN support and asked for nook availability in Canada answer was "no". Bought mine in a BN store. I have successfully borrowed ebooks from Hamilton Public Library, I have purchased and "side loaded" BN books from my desk top computer. I took my nook to a BN store and it downloaded an ebook I purchased from home. I have not successfully accessed BN from the one open local Wifi I have tried. I'll try a different one when I get a chance. So far very satisfied with the NOOK.
