I'm interested in a straw poll of which file format is being used most commonly.

Most of my e-books will be PDF since I'm scanning my paper book collection and do not have the time and energy (and remaining years of life) to OCR and edit well over a thousand books. Downloaded e-books, however, are almost all ePub.

Half my library is TXT the other half is EPUB. EPUB is now my preferred format and any new books I get are stored as EPUB.

I converted all of my books to ePub when I got my Sony Reader.
Personally, I loved the LIT format. But since no dedicated reader could read it, I went with the more popular format. But most of my books prior to 2010 were purchased as LIT. |

I only purchase epub, but I then liberate it and convert it to mobi to use on my Kindle. The Kindle has features I use which are not available in epub-only devices, so it is my preferred hardware, but I do not buy from the Kindle store.

I buy in either epub or azw (amazon) and liberate them and store in both epub and mobi.

I tend to buy or convert to .epub. I like .lit but that's only readable on my computer. My readers can handle .pdf, so I usually don't convert that. Sometimes I'll read the .amz on the appropriate PC program, other times I'll break and convert it so that I can read it on my ereaders.

Besides trying to get everything into calibre and it's metadata corrected (Argh!)....
For books I've mainly got PDFs that I'm converting to EPUBs (my preferred long-term storage format). So today I'm using PDFs but in several months this should switch over. For manga I'm using 65% CBZ/ 35% CBR formats, approxiamately. These will be converted to CBRs (once the books are done). CBCs just don't make sense because their is too much material to adequately reference/tag. So I voted PDF & CBZ right now - but itsa changin'! Last edited by Sabardeyn; 12-19-2010 at 03:01 PM. I use epub, mobi and PDF. All made from the same HTML source. I read PDF and Mobi exclusively. (Mobi on my Windows Mobile devices, PDF on my e-ink devices).

Before ePub and occasionally still, I preferred secure Micro soft and pdb, both of which are easy to liberate, otherwise I prefer ePub.

Currently the percentages in this table add up to 137%. There is only one answer to the "most use" question.
Epubs now appearing at a popularity of 72% should actually be rated at 52% |

Well, it is a multiple choice poll. How do you figure that the difference should be taken only from the ePub choice?

Yes, but to find the answer to my questions which was "..which file format is being used most commonly." I have provided that people can select 1 or more file formats. (the question is not which file format do you (you as in "oneself") use most commonly)
