I thought of that, so I just downloaded a free book in the kobo desktop that was only web or mobile and I can't find where it put it.

Huh. Somehow I'd gotten the impression that "Mobile" also included the actual Kobo device when loaded via sync. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

I had been looking at The Collected Novels Of José Saramago but since it's only web or mobile, I got The Jack Daniels Six Pack. Only 10.45 with coupon so at least I got a bargain on that.

Yeah, I had this one pre-ordered at Amazon or I might have screwed up and bought it at Kobo. I'm always forgetting to check formats first, but have been lucky so far (only one web only purchase).

Anyway, I had been hoping for a coupon like this to use on one of the ebooks by a local publisher (they tend to jack up the prices, for some reason). Got an ebook which is usually $20 for half-price, sweet. Now to use the newer 25% coupon on something cheaper.

I just found The Collected Novels Of José Saramago in epub at the Philadelphia library, so Kobo just lost a sale by not having the right format. I am #5 in line on the waitlist but they allow up to 21 days so with 12 novels in it I probably have a long wait.

Hmmm...Kobo is the only place (so far) that I've bought ebooks, although I've been looking at a few Smashwords ones. But the last (only...) time I bought pbooks from Amazon (admittedly, about 5 years ago now) it allowed me to put multiple books in a cart and pay for them all at once. And I haven't bought from the other places mentioned.

But that is a good idea about the gift cards - will think about that.

Curiously, the book I ended up buying (see earlier post) is actually published by Penguin, but I still got the discount.

There's another thread where someone's had problems with the Kobo gift card when using coupons--the wrong price was deducted.

I myself have had no problems, but apparently it's something to keep a close eye on, just in case.
