The needed a re-design badly. It's much easier to look around now and I'm less inclined to get in and get out quickly. Thanks for the info!

Well, the front page at least has gone from functional to confusing.

Putting books at funny angles like that might be artistic, but it makes it difficult to actually see the cover properly, as you need to tilt your head.

Hey, they no longer look like a time-lost refugee from Geocities! I thought this day would never come.

The layout could use a little extra tweaking since while everything looks much nicer, the organization of it is a bit muddled.

But otherwise

and the new reading group guide and fresh freebie fiction features look quite promising.

I like it. It's attractive and anyone interested in finding something will take the time to look around.

Much better than the old site. But what's weird is not all of the books they advertise on the front page have links to buy the ebook version of them at Webscription. For example, Sarah Hoyt's Darkship Thieves is available as a $6 ebook, but you'd never know that by clicking Buy from the front page of Baen.

Getting there, could still use some tweeks here and there, would not recommend another overhal, some pecking around the edge is more what is called for in my humble opinion.

I have flash turned off in my browser, and the new site seems to work perfectly well and appear decent enough without it. But that would explain why I wasn't seeing the oddly tilted book covers someone else mentioned upthread.

those b45t4rds! cobra war book 2 no longer appears to be available in ebook. only the hardcover is listed. and I checked last week and it WAS going to be available january 11 for $6.

Unless I'm missing something here...

Cobra Guardian, if that's what you're referring to, is still up at Webscriptions and slated for the Jan 2011 bundle.

But apparently their author/series/bundle listings disappear if you have flash turned off in your browser, which now explains why I always had to open a different one to browse the Webscription site. I always thought it was some weird javascript issue since I'm using one of those smaller niche browsers on my laptop.

Very nice!! A 100% improvement over the old site. I agree though, there are still a few tweaks that could be made, maybe make the navigation a bit more intuitive and then carry the new look and feel throughout the rest of the site.
