Better dictionary for 650, and how to change font questions?

Any suggestions? Can I just use any old ebook copy of a dictionary, or is there something special? The second question, does the old guide on changing fonts for the 505 still apply, or is there a new method? I didn't like the oxford dictionary, it was missing several words.
I'd also like to load an english-> spanish dictionary as I'm traveling in south america.

You can't add or modify dictionnaries on the 650. There's already an english -> spanish dictionary though. To change the default font, you can "russify" your reader (that is putting an alternative firmware).

I wish I could change the font size used by the built-in dictionaries. It's tiny type, and there doesn't appear to be any way to enlarge it. Or am I missing something?

If when looking up a word, you can click on the icon to the far left of the dictionary section ... which will bring you to a full page view of the entries. You can increase the font size on that page ... and when you X out of it, you also don't have to de-highlight the word.

I've probably explained that badly ... but I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out from the above ... I hope.

Mary,

Thanks for the tip. It's not quite as nice as being able to enlarge the micro-type in the initial dictionary view, but it will definitely help.

Still, I can't help but wonder WTF Sony engineers were thinking with the tiny text that cannot be enlarged in the initial dictionary view. As far as I'm concerned, they could make the initial word double-tap jump directly to the full dictionary view and skip that micro dictionary view altogether.

Probably because most of us want a quick basic look with the original highlighted word still showing in its page... This way you get both options,a quick look that may require you to peer if slightly sight challenged and the full entry if you want to read more detail and enlarge... Remember, you cna't please all the people all of the time... if Sony had done it how you want then I'd be wanting it the way it is...

Clearly I'm not the only one who doesn't like the way Sony chose to implement this.

I see two possible solutions:
1) A setting that could be selected by the user, whether or not to show the mini-dictionary or just jump to the full dictionary when double-tapping a word.
or
2) Simply allow users to change the font size within the mini-dictionary window.

Either of those would be as good or better for everyone than the current design, with no downside.

True but this thread isn't exactly flooded out with people agreeing with you... there are responses on how to further use the dictionary but it's not overloaded with "me too's"... all I was trying to point out was that whatever the setup, there will always be people who don't like it and others who really do and most who don't really care but just want to get on with reading.

problem with the dictionary is that it misses entries for words I don't get. I know they are english, and google can find them for me later. So there's no easy mod like the 505? Why do companies INSIST on making it harder every damn time to do what you want with a device. I liked the font I had on my 505.

Which dictionary are you referring to, English or bilingual? Do you mean it doesn't contain words that you look up? Could you please clarify what you mean, for example with an example?

Addendum

"I didn't like the oxford dictionary ..."
"I liked the font I had on my 505."

Your e-reader device is still listed as PRS505. Do you actually have a PRS-650, or are you just considering getting one?
