Any particular reason you stopped? Apart from the weights thing, that sounds to me like a pretty exciting program.

I am naturally hopeless at sport which is why I love reading so much.
But I also love running and cycling - just not as good at those as I am at reading. I love the way running makes me feel. I took up running again after a break of nearly 30 years and even though I am still a fat old grandmother, I feel soooo healthy. I have been running for 2 years now. I don't run very far - my usual morning exercise is a 3.5km walk which may or may not include about 3 lots of running for a few hundred metres then walking to get my breath back then running again. Mostly I just walk. My running shoes are the most expensive shoes I have ever bought, but way worth it. I didn't really believe the guy in the shop when he told me that if I bought good shoes my hips wouldn't hurt after running (have had sore hips since childhood)- actually I was only buying the shoes for walking but he said I they were for running too. So I gave running a go and was stunned to find that the more I ran the LESS pain I had in my hips. Weird. I cannot explain that. But actually when I think about sport I think of motor racing. I used to do flag marshalling at the local racing circuit. It required a lot of concentration and following of rules. I spent more time involved in that sport in a year than any other organised sporting events before or since. Now my husband drag races a motorcycle and it is my very important job to carry the bike's stand up to the staging lanes before a race so he doesn't have to hold the bike up with his legs! Then carry the stand back to the van once the bike is on its way to the start line. He tells me he is going to be getting rid of the kick starter soon and then I will have an even more important job - taking a battery trolley with some kind of starter thingy on it to and from the staging lanes. I hope he realises this means that taking photos of him will be even harder than it is now. Angela |

![]() When I was still living at home, I always met this 70year old jogger when I went out to run. We started talking after a while, and he told me how running actually kept him healthy and strong. He couldn't really run like he used to because of his bad knees, but he still went out every day for a walk and short run. I really admired him for being so active at that age. |

I canNOT pee with the seat down. It is like a mental block.
However, I definitely don't have to put it down. With the soft close nowdays, it does the thing on its own ![]() |

I don't participate in any organized sports but I've always been athletic so sometimes I'll just "go play." I may not be any good at it, like tennis, because I don't play enough, but I have a ton of fun and hopefully get to use new muscles.
Other than that I work out at home. I have a StairMaster 4000PT which is probably the best investment I ever could've made, and I do resistance training with dumbbells and Bodylastic resistance bands, which was another one of my better purchases. |

I used to play racquetball but I don't live near a court anymore. I've dabbled with tennis but it isn't the same

The hardcore windsurfers out here also surf in winter. I believe they wear dry suits... Personally, I think that's insane, although I've been told the only really cold thing is getting changed. And quite a few people think my sports are insane, as well, so who am I to judge?
