Drink. Maybe make some neutral teas, such as Lapacho that has no caffeine or tannin or anything like that. Or green teas?

Oh, I'm so sorry. Last time I had my mother in the ER it was for a kidney infection, and even though they gave her IV antibiotics before I took her home the doctor insisted I go by the store and get some cranberry juice and make her drink a glass of it daily for a while. She maintained that it is NOT an old wives' tale -- that cranberry juice is very beneficial in maintaining the PH in your urine that isn't friendly to the bad things.

What does the Doctor say about Cranberry Juice? I know that Ocean Spray sells 100% no Sugar added Cranberry Juice and that is good for urinary track infections.

I've had hundreds of those. I get at least 4 a year. I have scarring on my kidneys as a result.

If you can't stand cranberry juice (which I can't, it's yucky) take the pill form. Or, drink a lot of tea. Also, keep your feet warm. Hot baths help to take the ache out of your kidneys but don't stay in it too long because of the bacteria.

Another thing to think of, don't EVER hold your pee longer than 10 minutes. After that, the bacteria doubles and that's how a lot of urinary tract infections start.

Hope you feel better soon, I know how much they can hurt.

Thank you for all for the well-wishes and the advice. I've had a few of these infections before, and this one isn't nearly as painful as my last one. I'm drinking cranberry tea, made with 100% dried cranberries. The stores near me only had the sugared up versions of cranberry juice, with a small percentage of actual juice in them, so I decided to go for the tea instead.

Somehow on the very few occasions I've had cystitis we've also had cranberry juice in the house. The yeti was mildly annoyed when he found out I'd drunk all of it (given I usually drink tea or water this is understandable), but relented as soon as he knew why.
