Sixth cuppa.
Assam.

I am going to order three Assam samples.
The one that I have right now is Assam BPS CL Mangalam.
What does BPS CL Mangalam mean? No clue

In another shop I have found 3 different Assam teas, none of them have
Quote:
The leaves are made into small pellets
in descriptions. So, I am curious to try and test them and see whether there is any difference.

Assam Moran BOP

Assam Orangajuli TGFOP First Flush

Assam Sewpur TGBOP

Yesterday, I realised I am in a need of more metals tins for tea, so I bought English Breakfast Tea today. No info about what this tea is made of, but I guess that for office use it will do. An empty tin usually costs £2-£5, this one was £2.50 Its lid is on hinges. Very posh design
I also bought another set for £4. Tea bags (Who is going to drink it?) but cheap tins with lids on hinges

A Tea Glossery for you to use.

BPS = Broken Pekoe Souchong. Assam and Darjeeling, pearl-shaped leaves.

TGFOP = Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe. The main grade of Darjeeling and Assam.

TGBOP = Tippy Golden Broken Orange Pekoe. The finest broken grade produced in Darjeeling and Assam. Highly tippy with smooth leaves.

Still on the coffee streak. but I am relaxing a little to night. To day started horrible but got better along the route. To morrow big day. Lectures in the morning, Xmas show at Daughter's school early afternoon. Obviously lunch either missed or whatever on the go. Easy dinner to morrow, Sunday veal roast cut in thin slices and covered with tuna sauce (home made majo and canned tuna whipped soft, capers, mustard some anchovies and the secret ingredient). To night fish fillets (dentex) in the oven covered with grated lemon rinds, bread crumbs, chopped parseley and a thread of olive oil, 10 minutes at 200°C, carrots & peas with butter, and steamed zucchine with parmesan, Tokay for Wife.

Just curious...

Here you can buy tins with lids in all different shapes and sizes that are really inexpensive at craft stores, made specifically for filling with homemade goodies and giving as gifts. At Christmastime there are tons of them, mostly in Christmas themes, and after Christmas they'll be discounted to almost nothing. Do you have anything like that?

Maybe we have but I am not aware of it.
I am a bloody foreigner. What you can buy in high street shops is very expensive Even amazon.co.uk has only expensive tins. I paid today £2 per tin (2 tins) and £2.50 for the third with loose English Breakfast tea and consider myself lucky
Products In Storing Tea
The cheapest I have seen was in Bath £2. Maybe next time I order tea from them I will order a couple of tins as well.

Teavana sells tins. Looking back on it, I would have bought a large air tight container for $20 and just stored my bags of tea in that one container. It would have been easy enough and a lot less expensive then buying the tins.

Bas of loose leaf should be fine in an air tight container. All of my loose leaf comes in paper bags and I transfer it to a tin. If I had bought one air tight container I would not have needed the tins. I could just but the bags of tea into the air tight container.
