When I called my local walmart and asked if they have the ereader nook color, they forwarded me to fabric department.

If you need additinal ones use online companies such as monoprice, bluejeans and Amazon. If you need one right away Target, Walmart, BJ's, Costco's, The Apple Store.
You do not have to buy a brand name, I would ammend my limit if you are in a jam $29.99 but nothing over that.

If time permits my favoite is monoprice.com

My Walmart has one mp3 player (iPod Nano) and no ereaders!

I always end up helping people in stores when they are looking at electronics (or in the Health Food store). The staff never seem to know anything. And you would think that in a Best Buy or Future Shop that they would be somewhat trained.

My son is a college student who works for Walmart in electronics. I'm not saying this because he's my son but he is an exception to the rule. He's very knowledgeable and is surprised how rude some customers are when he gives them advice. For example, last week a customer stated that she needed to buy a memory card for her son's Iphone. My son tried to explain to her that the iphone doesn't have expandable memory. She looked at him as if he was the ignorant one. Then she changed her story and said she needed a memory card for her son's Ipod. He gave the customer the same response. The customer became argumentative until my son showed her the Iphone and Ipod specs on the internet. So it can go both ways. Also, his knowledge convinced a customer to buy a Nook this week.

my local Walmart needs your son. I was in yesterday to get some stocking stuffers etc and of course I couldn't resist going over and see if they had any nooks on display, well the didnt' nor did they even had any nook color's in yet.

but an elderly gentleman was inquiring about the nook with the salesmen. His neice wants a nook for Christmas. He asked why one nook was more than the other. the salesman said it was because one had more gigabytes.

I couldn't hold back and stepped right in, the salesman just turned around and walke away, i took over the sale

I asked him how much would she be buying books on the fly when out and about and with her being only 10, I said nook wifi for $149.

Wow boswd... that's actually ridiculous for the salesman and awesome for you!!

My son was very surprised when I showed him this thread. He admitted that some of Walmart's employees don't care enough to help the customer so they put on a facade while others are actually dumbfounded.

A friend of mine went to buy a Nook from Walmart and they told her that she had to buy a data plan from Verizon in order to use it! Luckily, she came to me before purchasing.

My local, newly remodeled Walmart has a very nice electronics department ... for now, anyway.

They recently put out a NOOKcolor and Sony eReader. Even though the display is located on a surround of the employee counter, both display eReaders have been completely trashed. The NOOKcolor looked like it had been passed around at the tire and lube department. It was filthy and broken.

I shop at Walmart for good prices but I consider myself lucky if I can get out with my purchases without incident. I always walk the down the row of registers and observe the cashiers to choose the most efficient one.
