Amazon have the PRS950 for $279 with no tax for me in California. Again, see the attachments.

On the Sony site the 950 is $284.

I was able to get the 10% off coupon to work on the Best Buy PRS-950. I brought in my PRS-350 that I bought for $179 last night (used 10% coupon) and noticed today that the 350 is on sale for $149. I went to exchange my 350 for the 950 and they told me I can't "double dip" with the 10% coupon on the 950 because it is already on sale ($50 off).

I asked why and she pointed to the terms and conditions on the coupon.

I said whatever, just return the 350, I'll go elsewhere to purchase. She called a manager over and they honored the 10% on the 950. $225 OTD (plus tax).

Win, IMO. Just be firm and polite and you may get the discount.

When I look on Sonystyle.com the price for the 650 is still $229 - it only shows the pocket with the $30 off ... so frustrating!
The 650 is $299 in Australia and no-one has had it on special ... which makes it appealing to buy from the US at $199.
Will check the website again later to see if its changed.

Lizlee4; I get the same result on Sonystyle.com: the 650 and 950 pricing still does not match the ad I received, and while the price on the 350 matches the ad, the sale ending date on the website is 12/25 while the ad states 12/18. Maybe the website will get fixed Monday morning when everyone goes back to work???

Ouch - I *JUST* put down $140 for a Kindle 3. If I'd seen this coming, I'd have totally picked the 350 over the K3

the price of prs-950 & prs-650 is still on their original price

till now I can see PRS-950 only abt.com , bestbuy.com Adorama.com is dropped to 249.99USD

I am doubt the PRS-650 ,prs-950 's discount come true till christmas shopping

Not sure what is wrong with the website but I found a $50 off the 950 on the edealinfo.com website but when you click on it, you are linked to the sony website with the old price. Here is the link for those interested:

If it was not because this reader is the closest to my requirements I would give up already, I am not holding my breath for good customer service, if it is so painful to just buy the reader in the first place.

I tried to use the 10% coupon at Best Buy today to get the PRS-950, but no dice. So, I just went home and ordered it from Sony, paying $264.99 w/tax. Not a great price, but I don't think better prices will come along before the holiday season ends.

I contacted my Local Sony Style store, and they stated they have not yet been notified of the price change.

Hopefully it's just a timing issue, and Sony hasn't updated/notified across the board yet. It's still relatively early on Monday (PST).

I received my $75.00 iPhone recycle credit (1st gen, busted screen) last week, so combining the two is exactly what I am looking for!

Note the text at the top/left of the attached Sony Style image.

"You are shopping at the Educational Store."

That's why the price is a strange "$206" rather than the expected $199.

I hope so, as this is certainly the right move in the current market (calling the original list price outrageous is an understatement!).

But I saw similar speculation during the November drop, and the prices jacked right back up after the sale ended. I consider that a bad sign, so I'm personally not inclined to gamble on a permanent price drop just yet.

It's just a sign that Sony knows very well that the list price is too high. From their point of view, there's no reason to permanently lower the price until after the holiday season.

I called SonyStyle, and they originally quoted me $229. After notifying them of the ad price, they said "that is correct," and gave me the $199 on the Touch. They also gave me free expedited shipping (when I sounded hesitant) and my $75.00 recycle coupon credit.

Not selling like hotcakes sounds about right.

I was looking at the Borders store, and they have the PRS-350 for $140, plus you can get Borders rewards points for it. The PRS-950 is one sale for $240.
