I think there is some law that requires Kindle 3 cover manufacturers to include at least one design flaw in each model costing less than $70. "Sorry, you're gonna need to include a flap that sticks out the side, or garrish credit card holders and storage sleeves, or faux leather, or a big shiny button inexplicably placed right above the Kindle, or maybe a strobe light."

Closest I've seen to an ideal cover per my tastes is the Piel Frama, and I'm almost tempted. If it came in dark brown or wine, I probably couldn't resist.

I ordered a Kindle 3 last week (won't arrive until February ), because I want to be able to buy from the Amazon store. I'm definitely going to get an Oberon cover for my Kindle as well, they're really beautiful !
I agree Oberoncovers are beautiful; I' ve one for my iPad, Kindle and Kindle I'm asking for my birthday; but take care..Customs in the Netherlands ask appr. 26 euro per cover.

We be twins! I have one for my Kindle 2, one for my Kindle 3, and one coming for my iPad!

That cover looks nice, but I don't think I would put anything in the pockets of the front cover - looks to me that anything in there would press against the Kindle's screen, and credit cards, as shown in the product picture, would scratch it as well.

The Oberon cover has one front pocket (besides the two large pockets that are integral to the front and back of the cover) on the front cover down at the bottom so the leather just presses against the keys, but anything you put in it would also have direct contact with the screen instead of the soft felt that is sewed on the inside of the cover, so I don't use it, either:

The Oberon covers are classy and gorgeous, and look more expensive than they are. Still a bit more that I would like to pay for a cover.

I agree. The most I've ever put in those pockets is a piece of paper or a page of notes ... and it never stays there for more than a few hours at most, but is removed at the first opportunity.

I don't understand why so many covers have all that stuff on the inside flap. It's like they're trying too hard to add features, but it just ruins the clean look and feel of the cover (imo). The Oberon pocket is very discrete and nicely done, though. I can see storing a little screen cloth in there. I think a plain flat velvet or suede lining is perfect, and so few covers have it.

I thought about storing a cloth there, but couldn't find a way to keep the cloth from folding over. The pockets are pretty useless, IMO, but it's not a big deal. I'd be just as happy without them.

Since someone asked, here's a couple of pictures of my Kindle with its new Hemp cover. I'm pretty happy with it. Now all I need to do is find a box or tin to keep it in when I'm out and about - one layer of protection is never enough for me. Can I just say again how vastly superb the Kindle is? It can do so very much more than my old Sony 505 it's just ridiculous. And Instapaper...how did I manage before Instapaper?

Marware cover

I like the Marware cover best as offered by Amazon here:

http://www.amazon.com/Marware-Eco-Fl...3&sr=8-1-fkmr1

It has a solid feel, can be propped up by the flip on a desk for easy reading, has a flap where one's fingers can secure for reading away from a desk and closes solidly with a wrap around elastic to secure it.

The kindle 3 is firmly enclosed on all sides with openings for operating all controls and ports.

Finally, it does not have the 2 hooks which could cause problems in some covers.

Has the Marware flip held up well? Have you had it long?

I'll be getting one of those along with my K3 this weekend.

That's a beautiful cover. Best of all, if the Kindle ever breaks or if the cover becomes outdated by a next generation that doesn't fit, you can always smoke it!

Very reasonably priced on Amazon. I paid much more for my Kindle 2 Tuff-Luv cover.

A very sturdy, nicely made cover plus handily converts into a stand which is perfect when you're doing Hands-Free reading:

I have cases from these people for both my ipad and sony, particularly with the sony the combination of the flip and the stand are a very nice combination and I'm ordering one soon to go with my new kindle as well.
