Can't see Kobo in Ubuntu using Calibre 0.7.32

Have been using Calibre since I got my Kobo in May earlier this year and have enjoyed the experience so much I donated some money :-)

I upgraded not long after from 0.7.31 to 0.7 32 and now cannot see Kobo in Calibre. I can see it on the desktop as a usb drive but that is locked up as a read only device. Any ideas what might be the problem and what I need to do to fix? Bart |

At this point you can reinstall 0.7.32 or wait and install 0.7.33 when it comes out shortly. |

Tried that. Twice. Same result. I guess I'll have to wait till the new version comes out.

BTW. I reloaded 31 onto my Win machine at work and it see Kobo ok. Bart |

Did the upgrade. Same result. Not seen in Calibre, seen under Ubuntu where I can only read Kobo not write. Then I had an idea.

My wife has a Kobo (the later version) and I can see it in Calibre as well as under Ubuntu with full privileges (my machine and hers). This is leading me to think that somehow I have changed read/write privileges on mu Kobo as I also get a Linux error message when I try to disconnect gracefully via Linux. I do not have this problem under windows so that is my fall back (reluctantly). I now need to go learn about how to change that under Linux. Any ideas where I should start? :-). Bart |

You should run the device detection debug and post the output here to see if we can spot the problem.

Just to check the obvious - I assume that you have the Kobo plugin enabled? |

Did as you suggested and here is the output. The last line is telling - it is as I thought, the device is read only. Any pointer to where I can get info to learn to change this?

Fixed it. Used dmesg to have a look at 'stuff' with the view to finding out why I could only read the device. Lo and behold there was a line saying that the fat32 was 'broken'. Started to look for Linux solution then thought to use my little netbook (Win XP) and do a chkdsk fix. This fixed the error and when I connected to my Ubuntu machine Calibre found the Kobo.
