No, I didn't read that book, but bought it at Amazon's and am planning to read it at Christmas. It's always so fascinating to see how different cultures influence each other. Do either of you know of the books of Robert van Gulik, a Dutch scientist and writer, who wrote about Judge Dee? It is about a Chinese judge and describes the court of law and criminal investigation in ancient China. Very well written. If ever you see one, buy it and read. Worth while. ![]() http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_van_Gulik Excuse: in my cup is cold coffee. Need to cool down a bit again after the glühwein. ![]() Last edited by desertblues; 12-11-2010 at 01:35 PM. |

Finally.
I just got rid of a good friend who paid a visit. Uncalled for. I volunteered to help him to order a new PC and install all the s/w but I didn't volunteered for 90 minutes of chat! ![]() Drinking English breakfast at the moment to calm down. What did I have today? 2 cups of delicious Keemun in the morning 1 cup of Yorkshire Gold 1 cup of burned tires 1 cup and the last one of Mao Jian and English Breakfast right now. Wuss or not? Double a cat's mouth. I brew Sencha at 75°C for 3 minutes. I cannot drink it immediately. Need another 4-5 minutes. |

Surprise -- I'm drinking coffee in the afternoon instead of tea! Don't know why, but I just decided to have a cup of ... wait for it... German Chocolate Coffee. It's good.
Astra, I'm giggling at you just a little bit, about having to calm down after 90 minutes with a visitor. That is SO like me! ![]() |

I have had a yogurt smoothie and a Dr. Pepper today. I am thinking of brewing some tea now.

Nespresso Deca. It is coffee week. I sampled the Gewurtz Traminer of Wife. Wooow. Delicious. What I am missing with this silly decision of going nonalcoholic. It filled my mouth nose and head with a gorgeous yellow green golden color, even before the taste. And a final tender pale blue streak. I had to get up from the table and do something else. They were having steamed salmon and shrimps and green-white vegetables (broccoli, cauliflowers and romanesco fractals, sprinkled with lemon butter) with home made majo. I had slabs of fried cod roe on home baked rye bread and a plateful of rapini (ail and anchovies). With half of a half glass of the Gewurtz. Tears of my soul. Have mercy.

Still haven't actually managed to make any tea and drink it, LOL. I 've had a diet Dr Pepper and now a Pepsi with lunch. But I did buy a teakettle kit with a set of squeezer tongs and a tea ball....

Finally!!! Cranberry Pomegranate Green tea. Sorry, Stitchawl, but it is Lipton. But the tea experiment is a success, because I'm thoroughly enjoying this cup.

![]() My, oh my, what a beautiful day! ![]() I really like oversleeping in winter, and waking up when the sun is shining! ![]() I'll start another day with a big mug of Royal Breakfast tea, compliments of the East India Company, just to get my taste buds going. This, with a bowl of sweetened popcorn with milk. (A native American breakfast!) Quote:

![]() And finally, Beppe.... slow down! It sounds as if you're living two days in the space of one! Stop, my friend, and smell the flowers... (or the pesto.) It's the weekend. Enjoy it! Stitchawl |

Stitchawl, do you know anything about the Adagio tea company? I was looking for more flavored teas (that weren't Lipton, LOL) and ran into the site. They look like they have every flavor under the sun. Here's the website:
http://www.adagio.com/?SID=c6aeacaba...1cb38fa074fa52 Our supermarkets here have a VERY limited selection of flavored teas that aren't Lipton. I find myself leaning toward the fruity green or black teas, and the spiced apple chai on the Adagio site sounds really good. Is there a site that is a favorite for ordering loose leaf teas? |

I have not had anything from Adagio but they have a good rep.
If you are in Illinois and can get to Chicago, there is an actual Tea Gschwendner store. It is one of the few ones in the US right now. I have visited there once. My husband spent an hour wondering how I could spend so much time and money in a tea shop. I would also guess that there is a Teavana store near you. Teavana runs a nice shop and the folks there are very helpful but a bit pushy. If you are interested in going to Teavana PM me and I will happily fill you in on their regular sales pitches, why they are wrong, and the best way to shop there. They sell some great teas but the sale people are pretty forceful. |
