I was the one that posted I didn't have the trial subscriptions anymore on the Nook. However I still get a trial subscription offer when I go to the Barnes & Noble site.

Purchasing and subscribing to magazines/newspapers works the same whether rooted or not. You might have to get the free trial online, however. But it should push just fine to the eReader.

ETA: Well I don't know what I was doing when I posted that I lost access to the trial subscriptions...I just took another look and sure enough, the trial option IS still there (on the Nook itself AND online).

Honestly I was back and forth on this as a tablet but the more stuff I find for it the more I like it (like the location services Scion posted in this thread)...

Yes, you need to follow the directions for Location Services noted above. That's the error message you get when the app needs those two Google map files.

I believe you're referring to getting the default NOOKcolor homescreen back if you use a different launcher app (Launcher Pro, AWD, Zeam, etc.) as the default. You need to install Home Switcher to set the NOOKcolor homescreen back to the original one as default.

I use AWD and I know another person uses Zeam. Based on the apps people posted as working, others use a different homescreen launcher as well. You can set it up so that when you press the "n" button, you select which homescreen you want. That's how French and I have it set up. Works quite well.

I haven't searched for it myself.
