Last year I got $40 in quarters from the bank, visited my local machine and obtained an Amazon card to use for Kindle books. It takes a while to receive the gift card, but it's a great present to yourself!

The page for Amazon is returning not available. The link the other day seem to limit the gift card to toys and games.

Not quite.....here is what the page says:

Coinstar has offered Amazon GC's for at least 2 1/2 years......

One thing I noticed - it said "Promotion ends 12.31.10. Amazon.com ends 12.22.10"

CoinStar offers free GC for selected merchants in lieu of cash, day in day out.

Amazon is one of those merchants. The offer that ends 12/31 is a bonus.....

The trouble is, some machines don't do this (most of them in Walmart I've found).

And sometimes even when a machine does, there's an error while connecting. I've had that problem the last three times I've tried it. They still give you free counting though, so it makes up for it, at least if they have a card sold in the store.

Interessting. Yesterday, the only mention was toys and games. Today it has the "millions" of other language but it also has this in the finer print:

"To receive your $10 Amazon.com TOY & GAME BONUS CODE (Valid for TOY and GAME purchases and millions of other gifts sold by Amazon.com*), follow these instructions carefully. $10 Amazon.com TOY & GAME BONUS CODE redeemable at www.amazon.com/toys."

Notice the site they cite "toys"

I was interested until the limitation showed up

I got an email from Coinstar about the promotion and it says NOTHING about the toys and games limitation. And since I had coins ready to go I took them to Coinstar. I don't recall seeing the Toys and Games limit at the machine, either. It was not until I tried to claim my bonus at Coinstar.com (and couldn't access the page) that I saw the limitation. It is also printed on my voucher. I had already applied my gift certif. to my Amazon account. I have written to Coinstar to complain. I would probably have chosen another vendor as I probably won't use the bonus $10 from Amazon for toys or games.

So, can you tell if the gift certificate is UNlimited in fact? Can it be applied to books or anything other than games? I, too, have no use for a game\toy limitation.

I just applied the promo code and it IS limited. Anger re-inflated.

EDT: I wrote an email to Amazon asking them to clarify the rules and letting them know I was unhappy. I've done a couple of these promos before and never had an issue like this one.

Thanks for the additional info and sorry you may have gotten short-changed (no pun intended) on the offer. They seem to have changed the language over the last day or two. It would not surprise me if you get some satisfaction by complaining. The "millions of other" language is definitely more inclusive.
