eReaders other than your cheerful Kindle can read ePub, so the they can overcome geo restriction problem . Consumers can easily buy from other sellers even in their own countries which is impossible for Kindle owners.

What difference does it make if the book is available in epub AND mobi?

Do you think that because you can buy from different stores, the price will be considerably less?

Amazon consistently has the best prices for books, and the best selection, as I've said on a separate post, so why do I want to jump from store to store?

This is not an insult , we should inform the people accurately, we are not talking about the PRICE, were are talking about the AVAILABILITY

Thousands of amazon ebook are not available for Canadian customers, you know this, but newbies here they don't know it yet.
Kindle owners have no choice in that situation.

Really? So these same books ARE available in Canada in epub?

Lets say they are. I truly don't know.

Tell me please, how is Amazon responsible for customers not doing research before they buy?

How does that make Amazon the bad guy?

Does Amazon tell people they can get the same books?

May be you should read the thread carefully

The kindle doesn't accept the same book in other formats, where are talking the gadget here.
Some titles don't even exist in amazon directory in digital format and they are available in others store such Kobo.
What would be your solution if you was owning a kindle??
I have discussed with amazon and they have said clearly : YOU HAVE TO BUY EBOOKS ONLY FROM US.

Assuming that there are Best Buys in Fubarstan I would say check out the Sonys, although I think they will be over $150, Nooks, and Kindles.

If you live outside of the US, and it sounds like you do, the Kindle is an international e-reader that allows you to use the 3G option globally.

If you can strip the DRM, then it really doesn't matter what reader you have as you can buy from wherever you can, strip the DRM and convert o the format you need.

If you cannot strip the DRM, then the best way to look at readers is to decide what format best fits your needs and go with a reader that supports it.

nook has an LCD screen. That little thing below the eink screen is LCD.

Which does not address the original post. First you are talking about the unavailability of Amazon books in Canada, now you are talking about some books being available in kobo but not Amazon.

Again.....you do not have to buy ebooks only from Amazon.

That, is false advice.

Amazon don't sell all its ebooks to canada due to several causes Geo and so.
