There's ice outside. Pretty soon we're going to break down and get that heat pump fixed or buy a new one.

I volunteered to help out another store yesterday, my day off. Yeah, getting paid for it didn't hurt the decision any. But the stupid idiots acted like they were doing ME a favor to have me there. The two of us from my store, one a shift manager, had to do almost everything, while THEIR shift manager listened to music, talked, and played around.
Then the witch who was 'in charge' of me kept telling me how I was doing everything wrong, and how our store wasn't a good store (implied) if I didn't know what I was doing. Then she tells me I have to empty out the refrigerator and the next shift would restock it for breakfast. Only, when I emptied the little refrigerator and put everything away she told me I was supposed to empty and restock, most of which I had just taken out. I kept pointing out I cannot empty the fridge AND restock at the same time. She kept insisting she told me correctly. "but you told me to take out everything" "Correct" she replied. "But now you want me to return the things I just took out?" "You weren't supposed to take them out." "You told me to." "No, I didn't. I told you to empty it." I reiterated that 'empty it' means to make completely empty. She at no time said to take out only lunch items. She also told me at the beginning that the next shift would stock for breakfast. They don't even start breakfast until 4am, and this was at 9:30pm. She only wanted me to do the job for the next shift. Did I mention that of the few employees they had of their own they let a couple go home hours early? While we worked out tails off? I pissed off the woman 'in charge' of me (heretofore called the witch) while I evidently didn't restock the refrigerator correctly (Yes, I was passive-aggressive) and then pointed out bluntly that I didn't have a clue where the cups and lids were that she wanted me to restock. Not a single thank you for helping them out. Not a 'good job'. All I got was a 'you may leave' when my cash register drawer was counted. "You better believe I am leaving, I'm already 15 minutes past my ending time." And the witch had just told someone that her ride was there and she was about to leave, even though her relief wasn't there yet. Never again will I work at that location. At least the other store they send me to occassionally thanks me and seem appreciative for the help. To top off matters, it seems I'm going to be in management training with 'the witch'. Hmm, did the owner's daughter ask her specifically to go for management? I was. The witch was almost fired recently, and I can see why. She was even rude to the customers. |

Hate Amazon? Then don't buy a Kindle and shut up about it.
It drives me crazy that there are such a large percentage of Amazon "hate posts" on this forum. Some people just can't talk about anything without throwing in an ugly comment about Amazon. It's like a witch hunt around here.
In the short time I've been here the "1984 incident" has been brought up more times than I can count. Customers got their money back, right? People act like this ruined their lives or something. Seriously, get your priorities straight! I haven't seen one mention of all the dozens of mistakes that have been made in their favor. I've gotten about 20 free books that were temporarily listed as free by mistake ... which Amazon stands by and sends the ebook for free even if it was a pre-order. And, of course, they have intentional free promos with enough books to keep many people in good reads without paying a dime. Another big gripe people (who don't even have a Kindle so it shouldn't even matter to them) keep bringing up is that Kindle can't read library books. Well HORROR OF HORRORS - Big fat stinkin' deal! There is enough free reading available legally without most libraries' very limited selection of eBooks anyway. Besides, anyone with an IQ over 70 can use Calibre to make this happen if it's that important to them. And if you must use a library and will not use Calibre, then DON'T BUY A KINDLE! Another gripe is "Amazon spies on people". Yes, Amazon tracks your purchases just like any other retailer when you have an online account with them. SOOOOO?? They make recommendations based on what you have bought and looked at in the past. SOOOO??? You don't have to buy it!!! As far as Amazon reading your personal Kindle documents .... ![]() And even if they did, do you really care? The only reasons I can think of that people get so worked up about this is if they have child porn or terrorist documents on their Kindle. Another big one "Amazon has geo-restrictions". Yeah, so does everyone else. It's not up to the retailer. I haven't seen this hater mentality towards any other retailers. Nobody puts up a post and then throws in a derogatory comment about B&N, Borders, or any other eReader. Bottom line - If you are an Amazon hater then, by all means, do NOT buy a Kindle. Buy the eReader of your choice and MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE. ![]() |

Hey, wvcherrybomb........
"newbies" come here filled with erroneous information. Its up to us to set them straight. If they choose to ignore facts, theres not much you can do about that. There are also those who feel Amazon is the devil incarnate. Not much you can do about them, either. This board is about so much more than them. Just enjoy. |

Yup. It's the vent & rant thread. And a lot of us (specially those who own Kindles) agree with you. I just hadn't bothered to say it. Thanks!
