The NookColor's display and its intuitive interface form an extraordinary one-two punch. The display employs an in-plane switching (IPS) panel, just as the iPad does, to provide a wider viewing angle and better colour reproduction than standard TN LCDs. And like the iPad, it supports 16 million colours
Sure, I'm biased. I like the E Ink Vizplex Pearl display very much, so naturally I find anything that mentions glare rather off-putting. Nevertheless, I look forward to reading about how users - not just reviewers - get on with reading using the Nook Color. Certainly the aspect of colour is appealing and I can see the attraction for anyone who wants an e-reader for comics.

Addendum
Here's another reviewer who didn't like the glare:

It's LCD screen it's going to have some glare, people know this going into it. With any LCD screen product for that matter - phone, laptop, iPad, mp3 and iPods and so forth and so forth.

I have both the eink nook and the nook color, with some adjusting of the brightness and finding a background color that you like, reading on the nook color is actually quite appealing. I'm enjoying much much more than I ever would have anticipated. I orignally bought it to use as an extra gadget to surf the net, read magaiznes and newspaper but reading regular books took me by surprise.

Now don't get me wrong I love my eink nook to death and I find these two compliment each other perfectly. During warmer months I enjoy a glass of beer or wine on my deck with a book, and my eink nook will do that just fine.
Plus they sync up to each other so, if I have to charge one I've the other ready to go.

So they both have their place in my reading world.

I work with computers the whole day, so when reading I don't want more LCD screen light into my eyes. That's why I prefer a regular e-ink reader.

Now, if you like Graphic Novels you should check the Kindle DX or an iPAD. Kindle DX is big enough to read those kind of documents without causing eye strain but it's black and white only. iPAD would be nice but I would not use an iPAD for long reading sessions, besides is heavier and battery does not last longer than Kindle.

For you, I would recommend Kindle DX and iPAD as second option.

I would sat the 8 hr usage time is fairly accurate. I read an hour each way to and from work and about an hour around bed time and i charge mine about every three days or so. I can stretch it a bit by booting ot down.

But if im surfing the net alot itll drain a little quicker.

Yeah but the iPad costs quite a bit more than the Nook Color. If he mainly wants a reader, the NC or a cheaper tablet would be best. I personally would not be happy with a KDX for a GN (unless it's b&w, but I think I would find the touch screen better for viewing them). Colour is the way to go, plus they (Nook Color and tablets) read pdf's better (at least that is what I have read in reviews).

I LOVE e-ink, and wouldn't want or need a lcd reader because I find e-ink a much better read, but if I wanted to read GN on my reader I would get a Nook Color. As of right now I read novels on my Nook and GN on my laptop.
