@NiLuJe,
Thanks for the awesome instructions on how to crack my Kindle. I followed all of the instructions and everything seem to work out fine. However, I do have a question. I am not a fan of the new font that is being used to display the "Collection" titles. Is there anyway to change that? I know how to add new fonts and change the display font, but I want to keep everything else the same. I installed the font hack to fix the Chinese displaying error so I don't want to change the entire display font set. Please help me change the font that are used to display Collections. Thanks again. |

Hi,
Thanks for the response. @nuluje Yes, UTF-8. Either I'll download a txt file directly or copy/paste from web page into txt file. I'll open to see if it's GB3212 and then re-save it as a UTF8. |

Today thanks to this site, I installed some jailbreak hacks on my Kindle so I could use
images from my novel, The Unselfish Gene, as custom screensavers. I also built a new webpage so you other Kindle users can use my images as screensavers too. There are ten images, any of which you can download individually. There's also a link to a ZIP file containing all ten images. I've downsized them to 600x800 at 72 dpi and saved them as jpgs. Here's the link: http://unselfishgene.com/kindle-ss/ Again, thanks for the hacks. --Robert Burns |

@NiLuJe,
Thanks for your response. I installed DuoKan, it worked perfectly on Chinese at first, but I also think it's the one eventually turned my K3 into brick, probably has to do with its handling of temp files. What a shame, DouKan is such as feature rich piece of work, but I also believe that's what kills it. Then again, K3 isn't very strong either. I hope there will be a future version of Jail Break soon to fix this, thanks again. |

Hi, I'm new to the board. I've search around, but didn't find my problem resolved.
I need to install cyrilic support to Kindle DX Wireless one the order there is some information about the Kindle: Kindele DX Wireless Reading Device, FEE 3G, 9.7&# ... Serial: B002****** I didn't find any info about B002 and DX. Everywhere they say that DX is B003-B009 (minus B007 ![]() Any idea, how to find the hack for this particular Kindle? Thank in advance. |

First off big thanks to all involved in bringing these "updates" out.
Installed the jailbreak, then fonts with fontin... looked great. Then through the Aa dialogue tried to change the "Words per line" setting and instead of the margin I set through reader.pref, the margins have constricted considerably. On the fewest setting the words appear in a column an inch and a half from each edge, the fewer setting a little closer to the edge, and the default setting about half and inch from the edge. How do I get my margins to conform to my reader.pref setting of 10 pixels from each edge? Note: uninstalling the font hack with the appropriate uninstall does not reverse the change to the margins. They still appear narrowed. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated! Edit: Solved! Changing the word per line setting in the Aa menu resets the reader.pref margin parameter. Just had to change back and restart. Last edited by Jonners; 12-10-2010 at 10:54 AM. Reason: Problem Solved |

Hi NiLuJe,
I was a user of the Sony PRS-505 (hacked to display Chinese characters) for a few years, and I just got my Kindle 3 US 3G a couple of weeks ago. Your font hack have helped me a lot in solving the problem with incomplete Chinese characters in K3's default fonts (actually I consider it a defect of Kindle 3), and also allows me to change to a much darker Chinese font (CJK.ttf) that is much easier for my eyes. I've tried all those K3 fonts you posted (Diavlo, FertigoPro, etc.), but I still prefer K3's default font for English books. Would you be able to post those files (Serif_Regular.ttf, Serif_Bold.ttf, etc.) ? |

Hi. I'm new here too.
I have a Kindle DXG and installed the font hack. Unforunately, it seems that the CJK font support is missing. The only way I found is to use Droid Fallback to replace all the font but the Bold and Italic is missing, Whink I think is not a good idea. I don't know how it is done in FW3. Is it possible to add it to 2.5.X? Also thanks for your wonderful hacks. |

I do believe that both the Kindle font and the Garamond Premier Pro font are copyrighted. As such, it would be incontrovertibly illegal to post the fonts on this site. |

cModBold on K3
I tried to use cModBold font on my K3, but my K3 behaved strangely after changing the fonts - freezed, blank screens, etc. The cModBold fonts I downloaded are supposed to be for Kindle version 2.5, and I just wonder whether all K 2.5 fonts are incompatible with K3 ? Is there any conversion program that I can use to make K 2.5 fonts work on my K3 ?

Hi NiLuJe,
Have you finished the ss timeout version yet? Just checking since I didn't see it listed on the first post. |

Supporting Indic unicode set
I see that there is support for CJK. I would like to add support for Indic characters. I have a font that supports it. Is it safe to replace the i18n.ttf with that one? Or is there a font that supports all the unicode characters that can be installed in Kindle 3 WIFI (FW : 3.0.3)? I am in particular looking for support for Tamil Character set (an Indic language).
Also I havent JB'ed my kindle. Is it safe to do so (not expecting the usual disclaimers ![]() thanks, Murali |
