				Keyboard orientation & Battery questions

Hi all, sorry if this has been covered but I am unable to find it if it has. On with the show.

![]() First, can the orientation of the keyboard be changed? I seem to hit the wrong letter on the smaller keyboard of my 3g. I seem to remember a picture of a NC and the keyboard was in a landscape view. Next. Does anyone know anything about the battery replacement. This is almost a deal-killer for me. The thought of having to send the NC off just to replace the battery is ridiculous. However, I am experienced in circuit board soldering and I have an iron with temp control. So if anyone can tell me where its located and if it's accessible maybe I can do it myself. Of course there could be an issue with getting a battery but I don't think I'll need one for a long time and it could be a common one. Thanks. |

NC's keyboard works in landscape, but I actually prefer portrait. Portrait is about as wide a smartphone's keyboard landscape, so it's good for thumb typing. Landscape is a bit too wide for thumbs, but too cramped for 5 fingers. But if you have bigger hands it might work fine.

The battery connection is socketed. In fact, you have to unplug it to disassemble the unit. The battery itself shows up around image #36. http://www.zdnet.com/photos/nookcolor-teardown/487636 |

Thanks, jasonkchapman, that's exactly what I was looking for. I just assumed

that there was soldering involved, but this looks easy. Well "delicate" might be a better word but not hard. I even have a T5 driver. ![]() ypocaramel, thanks to you too. I'll have to wait till I have one to find out which way works best for me. I played around a bit with a NC but I didn't have enough time to play with the keyboard. |
