M, I assume you did the initial charge (which takes a couple of hours) and authorized it at Sony Reader Store!?!

Yes, it authorized fine through the Sony Store, but Adobe doesn't seem to see it. I'm going to try a reboot on the pc and see if that might impact things. Not sure what to do if that doesn't fix it other than try a different pc potentially.

M, Mine is working fine so far in every respect, including with ADE.

A reboot might help you...or a call to Sony Customer Service.

Got mine as well. Hooked it up to the reader store via wifi/3G and USB and re-downloaded all my books. Same with Adobe DE, no problems as of yet.

Mr. Goodbar - I've had occasional problems with the USB on the original 950 as well as my 900. Try turning it all the way off. I think I also had to use different USB ports to wake it up one time.

Finally got it registered using another pc. ADE on my primary still won't recognize it for some reason, but at least it's now authorized. Everything else is working just fine.

M, Thanks for the update!

I was concerned that your situation was not working out so well for you.

Personally, I'm thrilled with the replacement 950 and with Sony's handling of the whole matter (even if there was a somewhat frustrating delay).

maybe it's an authorization issue with the previous 950?

It is rather weird. I thought maybe since they had the same name it was causing an issue so I changed the device name and that didn't make any difference. I can connect it to my wife's pc with ADE installed and registered to my account and everything is fine. If I plug it into my pc with ADE registered to the same account it won't see it. Might try reinstalled ADE and see if that makes any difference. At least I'm up and running and since I sideload most of my content it's not that big of an issue.

Make sure you install the Reader Library, otherwise ADE won't see it. It's a bit counterintuitive, but the reason is that Reader Library installs a special DLL which ADE uses to talk to Reader devices.

I received my replacement unit two days ago. It works flawlessly....but so did the first one. Firmware version did not change....same as noted above.

Anyone else think the replacement 950's page turn is quicker?

Z, Interesting that you bring this up as I had thought about addressing a similar vein.

My sense is that my new 950 is more nimble than the "demo" unit. It seems better put together and more organized...which I mean to imply it is more responsive.

My problem is...what might I find in Sony Style to spend my $25 gift card on??

I know what you mean. I already bought a cover. Tried to figure out how to use it to buy a Reader store gift card but it kept asking me for a billing address for the style card.

This girl knows how to shop! I would be more than happy to spend your gift certificate for you. There are several options on Sony Style for lower-priced items.

For something practical, do you need any recordable media for file storage? They have memory sticks, USB drives, CD / DVD / Blue-Ray disks. Need a new clock? Portable radio? All the major categories have an accessories category. Need any cable for your audio home theater or TV?

For something more fun, they have Movie DVD's starting at $10. PS3 games start at $30. Headphones to listen to music on your ereader?

Looking for a holiday gift for someone? Digital photo frames start at $60.
