I went on B&H website this morning, I noticed that the price oh the PRS 950 has increased a lot as the rebate period is over. All of us who ordered before the 27th november paid it 249$ which is not given! But now, the price is impressive, I don't think i would paid so much for having it now, at this level of price, i would have priviliged the Kindle DX with its big size.

Just see by yourself the new price:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...y_Edition.html

Fortunately, i ordered before the term of the rebate. But i'm still waiting for the device to be shipped, i do not know when B&H will have the device in stock, this is disappointing especially because B&H has ever made the transaction. I hope to receive it soon.

Wow, 330$ now!
I think, they must be compensating for all our 199$ purchases!

Yeah that's crazy. I thought the base price was $300, so how did they come up with $330? They are making me nervous now with the new price increase since my reader is still showing backorder.

I had never heard of B&H before this thread. Are they a reputable company? That is, have you folks ordered other stuff from them in the past and got what you ordered in a timely fashion? I think they look like a non-reputable company from where I stand.

B&H is a reputable company and well-established. It is one of the most popular sources for photography and video equipment. They are also known as a good source for international shipping. I have ordered from their store and had no issues with the product arriving both timely and safely.

I've been a customer of theirs for several years. I've purchased $xx,xxx in photography equipment from them. Many of my photography friends have spent reasonable (and unreasonable) sums of money there as well. They are also a good source for custom Apple equipment. As the original poster of the $199 pricing, I received mine within a few days of ordering. I would tend to believe it is just a matter of patience....(Hopefully!)

Regards, Peter

BH has been top grade for me. I don't understand their 950 price though.

Frys, NewEgg, and TigerDirect have had weird slightly higher than normal prices for the 350 and/or 650 for the past few weeks. (For instance, TigerDirect has the 350s at $190 right now, and I think they were $150 during the sale.) Do they think people won't shop around?

I contacted B&H customer service and they sent me an email with the message that they estimate that 950 units would be in "by the end of next week."

Don't know if anyone else has called or emailed them, but at least they gave a tentative ETA.

I also contacted the CS a few days ago and the answer was not very helpfull. B&H is still unable to communicate a date of delivery for the PRS 950. And if I trust what you are saying, it means that we would have two weeks of waiting before receiving the device. It's quite frustrating....

...We have to show a lot of patience, they were less patient when they took the money on my account. lol. If someone has some news, it would be great to share them.

For what it's worth, mine arrived in 3 days with their normal/free shipping. That is, I managed to order before it was backordered on Sunday, and it arrived early the following Wednesday. If it shipped from New York (I don't remember, but I think that's where they're based) it wasn't going far (Philadelphia), but even so it was pretty speedy for free shipping. Hopefully that'll help some of you.

Thank you. We appreciate this.

We're as concerned as folks here about availability of the Sony Reader and can only provide the ETA info we get from our suppliers.

Regarding price, like many companies nowadays Sony has MAP (minimum advertised price) programs in place limiting the lowest price we can show for certain products. In addition, Sony's SURE program lets them set the selling price for some items.

Firstly, Thanks to come here and giving us a response.

I too agree that your service is excellent especially for international customers like me.
Suggested improvement for B&H service - deduct the money on the card once you are ready to deliver and not when placing the order.

Your present pricing of 330$ must be surely an error. This does not correlate to your reason of sony's MAP or sure program. The same product is available at 299.99$ everywhere else incl. sony's own store.

This is the email sent to me by B&H below; is the CSR's estimate legitimate? I had asked them about the switch in status from "waiting in stock" to the current backorder status.
